I'm not sure when this went on general release but I saw it last night and it was rather marvellous and have to recommend it to anyone and everyone.
There are 18 short films in total, and they link up at the end, and feature some well known people, including Gaspard Ulliel, Steve Buscemi, Miranda Richardson, Juliette Binoche, Willem Dafoe, Nick Nolte, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Bob Hoskins, Elijah Wood, Emily Mortimer, Rufus Sewell and Natalie Portman.
Each one is about 6/7 minutes in total and they're all perfectly realised, if very offbeat at times. My favourites were the headscarf honey, asian hair care, mime artists, the grieving mother, the dying wife and the finale with the American tourist, which is the just the most perfect ending possible.
Go and see it if you get the chance!

Oooh yes, this is excellent! Had to travel across to Sheffield from Leeds all because I wanted to see this (and because I have an unhealthy attraction to Ms Portman).
Faves: The mimes, the African man who was stabbed (made me cry loads!), the lady losing her son and the horsebacked man and the American tourist one at the end.
Other ones to note: The one with the lullaby song was really touching, and then of course there was the Sin City stylee Vampire one with Elijah Wood which I'm not sure was amazing or just weird!
I really didn't like the Asian Hair products one (what was it about?) and unfortunately Maggie Gyllenhaal's segment was really weak.
But I'm waiting and waiting for the DVD.

Oh I am glad someone else experienced it. I'm still feeling affected by the American tourist storyline. I feel guilty for initially laughing at her.
I looked on YouTube and was surprised that a lot of the films are on their, under their chapter titles.
