This film crept upon me: I hadn't really heard about it until the countless interviews that were on This Morning last week. I started getting rather excited about it all - it might be good!
And it was AMAZING. The best fantasy film I've seen since Pans Labyrinth. There were so many perfect, perfect things about it:
- the magic! - gay De Niro! - pretty Danes! - the breathtaking British scenary! - Mark Heap being Dr Statham on the big screen! - the Pfeffier being fierce as! - gay De Niro! - The way the story tied in so well together and was completely unique as a fairytale! - the cute mouse! - Rupert Everett falling out of a window! - the ending which makes you feel all gooey inside and happy with the magical world! - gay De Niro!
I want to rush out and buy the book, but I want to find a nice hardback one first. Apparently it's a lot darker than the film?
Definitely going to go see it again before it's left the cinemeah. Anyone else seen it? Seems a bit quiet...

Ooh, I didn't like it. I think it spent too much time trying to be creative and not enough time being... good.
In essence, it drowned itself in its own creativity.
The fact I was stuck with a load of squealing little girls (my friends) didn't help. Every time Claire Danes went iridescent they kept poking me and gasping "She's glowing! She's glowing!"-I can see perfectly well on my own, thanks.
So, so, so disappointed. But liked the hundreds of Green Wing cameos.

I thought it would be teh rubbish, so was pleasantly surprised. LOADS of cameos, lots of laughing. The plot was a bit meh, but the ride was fun. De Niro and Pfeiffer were awesome, though it was fun trying to work out at which stage inbetween CGI-young Pfeiffer and CGI/make-up old Pfeiffer we actually saw the real one...

I spent ages trying to work out who Michelle Pfeiffer's sisters were. I was convinced for a moment that the fat one was second best friend Sharon Strzelecki, alas it wasn't, but realised the other one was Sarah Alexander only on her death.
It was really enjoyable though, predictable in a way but surprising too.
My favourite bit was Henry Cavill, when he winked back at Gay De Niro. I love Henry Cavill. Have I mentioned that before?

We saw this tonight after it finally got here. Words probably can't do how much I loved it justice. It was pretty damn perfect - funny, exciting, imaginative, with characters you could actually care about. It's so nice to leave a fantasy film feeling fulfilled. Everyone was great in it, especially Charlie Cox. He has such lovely legs too. Bob DeNiro was especially ace as well, I get what all the fuss is about now. Doesn't Henry Cavill look different with a gingery wig and tash? I didn't recognise him. None of us recognised Victoria as Sienna Miller either, though I supposed we're more used to looking at what outfit she's wearing in her countless papshots in tabloids and Lorraine Kelly fashion item introductions. Who was the fattest of the three witches? IMDB is being unhelpful. It was really nice to see Melanie Hill getting scenes with Michelle Pfeiffer. She was owning The Bill as Jim Carver's mad drunk wife when I watched it, and she was the best thing in Cape Wrath too.
One bad thing was that the beautiful ending was ruined by how far their stars were apart from each other. I do love stars. I rearranged my room so my bed could be directly underneath the skylight.
