Does anyone remember this Granada series shown between 1990 and 1993?
It was initially about two families who lived in England and Australia, and then was revamped to feature the intrigues of a rich family based in Cheshire.
Can anyone remember the name of the actor who played Simon Bannerman please?
Cheers.

Yes! I fucking loved it!
The last episode was a cracker, when vengeful old Ma Bannerman stood and watched Fiona die of an overdose.
Can't remember who played Simon though.

Yep, the show had one of the best last episodes ever.
Does anyone have an old TV Times or even an old Inside Soap (1993) that they could look up for me please?
The cast list on the IMDB isn't complete and this has been racking my brain for a while now.
I remember that the show was pretty wild with Fiona having affairs with both father Charles and son Simon - which is why mother Isabelle didn't tell anyone about her overdose and calmly watched her die......
The "Bannerman family" period of the show was so much better than all that daft UK/Australia nonsense.

Were the Bannerman's Jude Law's family? I know one of the sons was played by Martin Glyn Murray who was also one of the Mock Turtles.
I remember when one of the characters suddenly stabbed and murdered the main character - clearly no tabloid would have been interested had it been leaked, but it was very shocking, as tv soap plots should be. Surprise is very underrated.
I also remember that the woman from Australia that the English chap went to visit was Plane Jane Superbrain's mother from Neighbours, and that her on screen daughter had THE MOST ENOURMOUS BREASTS.

No. Jude Law was in Families mark 1 - as Nathan Thompson. I do believe it was his first ever TV gig.

I loved it!! Although, as I'm getting on a bit I can't remember which family was which now. It all got a bit complicated and convoluted. I think it turned up on one of the Sky channels years ago. It's about time it was repeated again!
Was Simon Bannerman one of the sons?
