Do you feel the power...of the Gladiators (du,du,du,du-du) Do you have the will...and the skilll Do you have the strength, the power, the heart to be a winner, it's not for beginners Erm...deep down in your soul or something like that.
I fucking love Gladiators. I watch all the repeats on Challenge on a Saturday and Sunday and I've got to say that I'm still not sick of it.
I always wanted to be a Gladiator when I was little, or at least be a contender. The real star of the show was Over to John Anderson but everyone loved Jet! My favourite Gladiators though are Lightning and Hunter because they never got defeated by a contender. Also, Hunter was really, really fit although was famously having abit of the old in-out in-out with Ulrika.

I only remember one winner - Edith Huthart - who jumped on and embraced her 4 X 4.

I went to see it live at Wembley arena.
It was a revelation. They stored all the equipment for the events on the ceiling!
I was amazed. The travellator (the downfall of many a lily livered contestant) and everything! They pulled a string and it got winched on to the ceiling.
The ceiling!
The fucking ceiling!

I only remember one winner - Edith Huthart - who jumped on and embraced her 4 X 4. Eunice. Her fans all had t-shirts that said Eunice - can't miss. I am getting a flashback that tells me she was a gladiator afterwards on an international show, or am I getting her mixed up with someone else? I liked Trojan. He was lovely.

I don't know if she was a Gladiator but I do recall that she became a stunt double. She was a double for Uma Thurman, although I don't know which film it was (probably one where Uma Thurman didn't look like Uma Thurman) and I think she was also a double on either SpiceWorld: The Move or a Spice Girls video or something because I remember a documentary on her where she said that her daughter ranked getting a cardboard cut out of Emma Bunton over meeting Thurman.
ALSO: I would have loved to go on the Pendulum.

ALSO: I would have loved to go on the Pendulum. Yes I thought that was very ace. I remember things like hangtime as well and the thing where they were climbing the pyramid. I bet if they brought it back now it'd do wonders for their saturday night schedule. Hunter was great. I also liked lightning I think her name was. blonde. in every show.

Yes! That's Lightning all right. Her, Wolf, Hunter and Saracen were THE Gladiators Elite.
Ulrika wrote in her NOTW column wrote exactly why Celebrity Wrestling failed so badly- because millions of people had seen a better, funner, more slick version in Gladiators. I would love to see it come back but it wouldn't be the same with the old Glads and Over TO John Anderson.

Aww, man. The best bits were when the Wolf did something shocking and outrageous, like lash out at someone, and John Anderson would strap his bitch on. I barely remember anyone apart from Wolf now, but I loved that show. The travellator was so amazing. And then there was that round where you got to bash the gladiator with a huge, over-sized cotton bud. Saturday night entertainment couldn't get any better!
And Carrotline, I must admit, I am a little jealous. They had those big foam fingers for the audience, didn't they? Aww, I think there was a chant too, but I can barely recall any of it.

Eunice was the stunt double for the goddess Famke on GoldenEye, it's her being squashed by the tree.

The gladiator boys used to enter with "The boys are back in town!".
That was really exciting when I went to see it.
Unfortunately, I got taken to see it by my best mates parents for her birthday (said best friend was invited sadly) but they'd been the year before and told me I didn't need to buy a foam finger because they already had them.
We got there and just as I started to brandish mine about with gay abandon , I realised that ours were a different colour to the other 80,000 people there and everyone knew we'd obviously re-used ours.
I've never felt so cheap.

Gladiators was proper amazing. I was even more obsessed with it than Power Rangers and Animals of Farthing Wood.
For SHAME on those who only remember Wolf, what an overrated ham he was. Child!Yizzo was never impressed with him. Shadow was by far the scariest with his veiny eyes and arms, was not surprised when he got chucked off for drug abuse. Nightshade and Panther were the two hard ladies who I had more respect for than the admittedly lovely Jet and Lightning, though I did enjoy their hair flips and girlish ways. I felt sorry for Lightning because she was always in Jet's shadow, even though she was a way better Gladiator (Jet was a bit of a hack really, wasn't she), so I pretended I liked L better. Even as a kid of about eight I remember thinking, "Jesus, that Falcon is a bit unfortunate looking, is she not. Get a haircut, luv". She always seemed very nice so I felt a bit guilty. I absolutely hated Hunter though, what a poser.
My favourite events were the one where you had to climb up the massive wall with a Gladiator chasing you, the gauntlet where you had to pass five Gladiators who tried to pummel you, and the one where you had to put as many balls into little containers as possible whilst the Gladiators tried to stop you.
I loved Gladiators and was gutted that I never got to go see it live. They need to put it back on television, so I can apply and win that shit.

Shadow was by far the scariest with his veiny eyes and arms, was not surprised when he got chucked off for drug abuse. Not only is he still using them but he got arrested near my estate a couple of months ago for dealing in them. He's lost the muscle completely and looks a totally different person.

Shit. I'm actually really disappointed in myself for forgetting that chant. I swear to you, I'm serious. I'm proper annoyed at myself about it. That was one of the highlights of the show. Yes, the Wolf was a ham, but a memorable one. The other gladiators all blend into one when I try to remember them, except for Wolf, and his long curly brown crap hair. But, look what I found! It even has little sound-effects as if you're on a little Gladiators space pod or something. I'm trying to re-educate myself here. I remember Zodiac and Rhino now. And Lightning. Cool.

I wanted to be Jet, she was flawless.
I think I remember having a crush on Cobra - I had a dream he 'got me' on the rings, but I woke up when we fell. I want the 2nd part to that dream, please!

Eunice was the stunt double for the goddess Famke on GoldenEye, it's her being squashed by the tree. According to IMDB she was a gladiator called Blaze. And she is Angelina Jolie's stunt double in Tomb Raider and Mr. & Mrs. Smith. www.imdb.com/name/nm0404497/

My favourite Gladiator moments ever: When Wolf was defeated on Hang Tough, after he fell, leaving the contender to breeze to his platform for an easy ten points..Wolf, furious, starts to push Jeremy Guscutt around...cue Jeremy RUGBY TACKLING Wolf down on to the safety mats before running away like a girl!
Also, I loved the episode where Wolf and Vulcan's continued bitching resulted in them competing against each other in Duel. It ended a draw, but while Vulcan postured round like a prick, Wolf jabbed him with the stick, pushing him off the platform and arse first onto the mat.
Television at it's televisual finest!

Saracen was my favorite. I thought he was amazingly manly and hot when I was about 10. I watched a bit of Gladiators on ftn the other day I still think he's pretty tasty.
Rather embarrassingly I was out about a year ago and completely off my tits when I got chatted up by this (I think) quite hot black guy. I think I probably would have been in there had I not blurted out:
"Oh my God! You've got hair just like Saracen in Gladiators!"

I liked Saracen too. He was a firefighter and therefore A Good Person and I always thought he would make a good father. I may have been 10 but I knew the important things to look for in a man.

Oh my God - I didn't know Saracen was a firefighter! I think I would actually set fire to my own house just to get him to come and rescue me.
