I am terribly excited about getting digital when I finally get a full time job/move out as it will mean I can watch these things once more and drool over the Gladiators!

Eunice was the stunt double for the goddess Famke on GoldenEye, it's her being squashed by the tree. According to IMDB she was a gladiator called Blaze. And she is Angelina Jolie's stunt double in Tomb Raider and Mr. & Mrs. Smith. www.imdb.com/name/nm0404497/I do believe Eunice is actually Godmother to Maddox. I know she's definitely friends with Angelina, and that Maddox supports Liverpool as a result of Eunice, but can't find anything to verify the Godmother thing. I sort of hope it's true though. I had a ridiculous crush on Jet when I was like 12. Watching the re-runs on FTN, I've switched allegiance to Cobra, and maybe Rhino at a push.

My favourite by a long way was Jet. Didn't she become a TV presenter briefly? I remember her co-presenting the later series of Finders Keepers with Neil Buchanan.

I think she did You Bet! with Darren Day. Poor Jet, she deserved so much better. I used to do her hair flick in the playground trying to be like her.

I love Gladiators! I have freeview so I can watch it most days at 7 on ftn. I remember it from about 1994 onwards, when i was five. Mid-nineties Saturday TV was amazing for small children. The first repeat I saw was the 1993 semi-final, complete with waistcoats and Ulrika in some angel- delight-pink trousersuit monstrosity. Is it just her, or did every woman dress like their mother going to a cheap wedding at the time?
My favourite Gladiator was Nightshade (?) she doesn't pop up much on the repeats, sadly.
Jet is now an assertiveness trainer, and I think some sort of counsellor, because she turned up on Trisha Goddard earlier in the year to help some woman overcome confidence issues, which involved (I think) kicking the shit out of foam things.

Awooga!
Jet and Cobra were my favourites. Wacthing the repeats I can't help but think of condoms when Trojan is on.
I wish this was on now. I would so go. I bet if it ws on now though, the Gladiators would be really crap and have really crap names.

Did any of the Birmingham people ever go and see this being filmed at the NIA? We won some tickets on a raffle once and it seems like we were always being offered, but none of my family watched it at the time. How I regret it now.

I must have been half a dozen times, at one point in year 6 it seemed to be part of my school's curriculum. It was very fun, but it took ages to set up and the NEC smelt of chips all the time. I have a Glad-hand somewhere, as well as most of their autographs.

I think she did You Bet! with Darren Day. Poor Jet, she deserved so much better. I used to do her hair flick in the playground trying to be like her. She also did Games World as the "Games Mistress" which involved a very tight leather costume and cane. Despite this I still preferred Lightning who always beat Jet in the backflip competition.

We were like that with Cadbury's World. We had quite a large headmistress. You poor thing. Cadbury World is possibly one of the dullest days out I've ever had. Most of the tour seemed to involve either watching old Brummy ladies standing about when they should be making chocolates (and preferably singing about it) or then looking round the shop before being offered a finger of Fudge which looks like someone sat on (which, in retrospect, should've horrorified me).

I watched Gladiators yesterday on FTN and was shocked at useless everyone was.
How do people not realise you need a run up for the travelator!?

It's always the travelator where it all goes tits up, isn't it? You'd think they would learn. That said, I can barely function on a horizontal treadmill at strolling pace, so I can't exactly talk.
The series currently being shown is an International series, presented by Cindy from Lost! Along with fucking Ulrika, of course, but if you blur your eyes you can just pretend she's Libby or Juliet.

Has anyone else noticed that the travelator is slowed down if the runner up is trying to get up it after the winner has finished.
There was a woman from Germany on the other day. She didn't really even manage to get into the Gauntlet. She just kept bouncing of the pole of the first gladiator. (I didn't mean that to be as dirty as it turned out. Hunter wasn't involved!)

Which one was your favourite? Was anyone still watching by this point? Series 2 and 3 were the best and any of the Gladiators that came after just didn't seem as good. To be honest I never liked Eunice much however I can remember getting terribly emotionally involved with the previous years winner Jean Klenk, the little truck driver who came in as a stand-in. I remember going to see the kids version. It was crap apart from the bit where they couldn't stop a girl from crying because she lost on The Wall.

I hope that's true because that is awesome if so. Eunice Huthart was probably the real star of Gladiators actually.

Weininger Erwin was one of the best contestants. I think that was the first series. I loved the little black firefighter who got hardly any points and then whipped floppy haired idiot Tracey's backside in the Eliminator. Jean Klenk was good. I had a massive crush on Colm Curran, I remember him crying because John Anderson kept blowing the whistle on his game on Gauntlet. He was sexy. And Irish. And a stripper. I mean COME ON! You can't write this stuff.
Also, Zodiac had a kid with Trojan and Jet was godmother. Can you imagine, Jet as your godmother?! Eek-a-thon. Trojan is Action Man now.

Zodiac and her Trojanbaby came into the H&M where my sister worked when she was about 19. Apparently, the baby was screaming bloody murder the entire time and Zodiac didn't have much in the way of manners.
Just looking at that group photo above - who on Earth is that absolute munter kneeling down in the centre? Is it Fox or Siren? The muscles of it! The face of it!

Currently on ftn: Gladiators: The Ashes. It's utterly bizarre. They keep cutting to shots of four Gladiators in the blistering sunshine in a field or something (I think it's Wolf, Hunter, Rhino and Warrior) and Warrior's got his shorts pulled up to the top of his stomach, Simon Cowell-style. It's really disconcerting.
On the plus side: no Ulrika! Hooray!

I have enjoyed the Gladiators teaching me about Australia in their own special way. I had forgotton how absolutely ace Wolf was - he went to shake the guys hand and then pushed him over and ran away to steal a little girls Australia poster and punch it. Fucking brilliant!
