I recently rented series 1 of this 1980's BBC classic - the theme tune is brilliantly haunting and nostalgic and Stephanie Turner is in the hot seat as Inspector Jean Darblay.
Surprisingly quite a good series and actually rather more progressive than Prime Suspect. Unlike the blokes in Jane Tennison's incident room, the male policemen in JB have no problem with having a superior officer who's a woman.

I am now on the 4th series and I have to say I much prefer Stephanie Turner to Anna Carteret. Despite this I think I am now addicted to Juliet Bravo, its so surreal and northern.
I totally love it.

One of my earliest television memories was watching an episode of Juliet Bravo at my grandmother's. As the credits were rolling she turned to me and said "promise me you'll never use coke". I just nodded but the whole episode had obviously sailed way over my very young head and for a long time afterwards I always felt like I might get into big trouble for drinking my favourite fizzy drink. It's quite sad that 20 years later kids probably aren't quite so naive. Or maybe I'd just led a sheltered life.

*cough* Can actually remember watching the last Stephanie Turner episode on it's original showing.*cough*
Tried to watch an episode on UKDrama the other week but it's exceptionally cheap and comes across as a poor mans Bergerac.

I thought the last episode with Stephanie Turner was quite sad actually, although I cant remeber it on its original showing ... just the showing on my TV last week.
