Anyone remember this wild 1980's Aussie Dynasty?
The premise reads like the back cover of one of those tawdry, paperback sub-Jackie Collins epics. Stephanie Harper, a dull, Plain Jane heiress, gets married to a handsome but evil tennis pro, Greg, who promptly begins an affair with Stephanie’s best friend Jilly, and together they plot to murder Stephanie and lay claim to her fortune. On their honeymoon, Greg pushes Stephanie into a crocodile-infested river, and watches as she is apparently mauled to death. But Stephanie survives and is found washed up on a beach. She happens to meet, as you do, a handsome, brilliant plastic surgeon, Dr. Dan, who promptly says “We can rebuild her. We have the technology,” and turns his talents into repairing her face and body. After the bandages are removed, Stephanie is transformed into a gorgeous babe. Using the alias Tara Welles, Stephanie returns to Sydney and becomes a glamorous supermodel, whilst intending to exact vengeance on Greg and Jilly, and take back what is rightfully hers, particularly her beloved house “Eden”. Hence the title – Return To Eden. Get it?
Loved it, and was delighted to get the whole saga on DVD from Australia. Rebecca Gilling was great as the caterpillar-to-butterfly heroine Stephanie, as was Peta Toppano, previously Karen Travers, the first Nice Middle-Class Inmate in Prisoner Cell Block H as sequined superbitch Jilly.
