Did anyone else enjoy this as much as I did?
Channel 4 was the place to be when it came to Sunday morning television in the late 80's/early 90's. Sharky and George, Pugwall... the list is endless. But Ramona was always my favourite.
I used to get the books from the library, but they'd confuse me as they were so American. Sneakers? WTF?
Is this on DVD?

I remember copying an episode once where she squeezed a whole tube of toothpaste out into the sink for the hell of it (the rebel!)
Channel 4 80s was the best!

I loved it, although I remember being scared of her sister for a reason I can't remember. They made a Ramona joke on Family Guy last season and it made me chuckle no end.
Edit: According to Wikipedia, Ramona was played by the blonde girl from Go. I'm sure I remember Ramona being a brunette with messy, almost pube-like hair.

On the book covers the actress had a mousy bowl haircut arrangement. It looked straight though.
I don't remember much of the series, because I don't remember much that happened before 1997, but the books were good.

Edit: According to Wikipedia, Ramona was played by the blonde girl from Go. Sarah Polley? I love Sarah Polley! I don't remember Ramona, probably because when I was a kid my parents would drag me, and my brother, off to do "family things" on a Sunday. The bastards. I don't remember the books either, although I have no excuse for that. So, was Ramona the Tracey Beaker of her day?

Yes a bit but far more likeably than Tracey Beaker who's one of the few orphans where you can entirely see why their parents ditched them. Sarah Polley completely disappeared into obscurity, didn't she? She seemed quite alright in Go.

Why? Because of Mayor Quimby?
I think she's deliberately obscure. She does a lot of indie Canadian stuff, and was supposed to have the Kate Hudson part in Almost Famous, but dropped out because she thought it was going to be too mainstream, or something.
Me too! I feel like I've missed out.

She also directed and wrote Away From Her, with Julie Christie, which went on limited release a month or two ago. She's worked with some pretty amazing directors, Atom Egoyan, David Cronenberg, Wim Wenders and Michael Winterbottom but rejects celebrity completely. The only reason I watched Dawn Of The Dead was because she was in it.

Am I right in thinking Ramona had a sister who had a really weird (well, weirder than Ramona) name? *checks wikipedia* Aye, the sisters name was Beezus. And here is Ramona then... And now(!)

Oh my god - I never knew there was a TV series! It can't possibly have come close to the awesomeness of the books, surely?
