Last night's rather un-frightening Frankenstein got me thinking about how there aren't enough scary ghost stories on TV anymore.
Anyone remember this being on one Christmas in the 80s? It's much scarier than the play although to be fair, that is also rather disturbing.
Still can't watch the end of this scene alone at night:

I was scared by this, then I sent an email to Susan Hill and she clearly hated it to an almost pathological level so now I am stuck. I am fickle like that.
(Although Nigel Kneale is/was my god. What is a boy to do?)

There was some sort of BBC1 ghost drama with Albert Finney (I think) in it, which absolutely terrified me as a youngster.
I can't for the life of me remember the title though. Anyone?
EDIT: Oh my god - that woman's face scared the life out of me.
EDIT: It was called The Green Man apparently...

When asked what scared her Susan Hill said 'the stage version of The Woman in Black terrifies me, every time.' although she is scared of quite a lot of other things too, her worst nightmare is being force fed live wasps by Prince Charles.

I saw the stage version and the scariest thing was the amount of teenage girls who screamed every time the onstage lighting changed!

I did my GCSE Drama review of the play, and compared it to "Ridley Scott's 1979 classic, 'Alien'". I can't remember how, I suspect I was drunk at the time (oh, the vigours of youth).
Also, don't hate the teenage girls. I was one of the teenage girls.

As was I. I saw it on a GCSE drama school trip, and at one point turned to my left to find the seat to my left that had initially empty was now filled by, you guessed it, the woman in black. I've enevr screamed to loudly in my whole life.
