Does anyone else love the late, great, Bob Monkhouse? I have nearly finished his (first) autobiography, which is great (what a tart he was) and I have bought his An Audience With for four whole pounds.
Listed on the back are some of the celebrity guests. Top billing goes to Mr Motivator (!), second is Jeremy Beadle (aww), third (third?!) is Stephen Fry and finally there is Mandy Smith (who I had never heard of, and Wikipedia tells me... well, it's all a bit odd really).
Still, should be good!

You've never heard of the legend that is Mandy Smith?
Next you'll be telling us you've never heard her version of Kylie's Got To Be Certain, or The Human League's Don't You Want Me.
Back to Bob, I did like the show he used to do on Saturday tea time, where people sat in boxes. He was a proper looker in his day too, if I rememeber rightly.

Do you mean Celebrity Squares? It was no Bob's Full House.
TRIVIA: When the format for Bob's Full House called for him to tell a joke in between reading out the contestants' details he used to just have a script card saying 'JOKE' and he would make one up on the spot.

I was a big fan of one of the last things Bob Monkhouse did- Aaagh! It's The Mr. Hell Show which was a cynical cartoon in which Bob Monkhouse voiced the title character, who was a devil. It was similar to Monkey Dust. I got the Mr. Hell DVD for Christmas last year. In the sleeve for the DVD they said Bob Monkhouse was very professional.

I love Bob Monkhouse and even though I know he died over 4 years ago everytime I hear his name I presume he is still alive (through wishful thinking) and them I am very sad the milisecond later I realise he isn't. He really took his comedy seriously and is probably one of the best "old school" comedians the planet has ever seen. I loved Wipeout (I wish the BBC would make more lunchtime quizzes) - I'm suprised challenge haven't picked that up to be honest, especially his gags at the end and his "that just wipes me out".
Also the Audience With... thing reminds me I have a great story about a friend of a friend and Mr.Motivator in real life, but I'll save that for somewhere else.
