Someone posted this exchange from an episode of Popular and thought it was worth sharing with you...
(M.C and Nicole are practicing for Mary Cherry's E! interview in the girls bathroom.)
Mary Cherry: And yes Emmy, like I was tellin ya' when I first spotted Erik Estrada, I said to my momma "Momma, now there's a man who would make a perfect step daddy for me!" And yes Emmy it was me who told him "Erik, go for the CHIPS reunion. Reunions are in!"
Nicole: One final question Mary Cherry, do you have any plans to sleep with Erik Estrada?
Mary Cherry: Nic! That's sick! E! won't ask me that!
Nicole: Why not! He's hot! It happens and think of it this way; if you do, you'll also be featured on E!s Mysteries and Scandals which is 2 E! interviews in one year and that's popularity!
Mary Cherry: Point taken. Let's practise lip looks for my iminent celebrity explosion.
Mary Cherry's mobile phone rings
Mary Cherry: Maybe that's E! confirmin' tommorows interview.... Mary Cherry here!
Cherry Cherry on other end of the phone: Mary Cherry, weddin's off. Also, drop ten pounds!
I wish this show was back on so I could really appreciate the humour...

Cherry Cherry ruled. I loved the episode where she came to Kennedy High as a substitute economics tutor and gave all the students shares in Cherry Cherry Inc., then took Harrison's mom's boss to court for unfair discrimination.
MARY CHERRY: Sir, is it true that you wrongfully exterminated a lesbian lady? Cherry Cherry shoots her a look. MARY CHERRY: Oh, sorry Momma - I mean terminated a lesbian lady? CHERRY CHERRY: She may not be smart or pretty, but she's loyal as a Rottweiler.
I transcribed this from memory so it may not be all that accurate.

I loved when they had some school quiz thing and Cherry and Mary where on opposite teams, and Cherry got all the easy questions. Mary Cherry's "This Contest IS RIGGED!" was hilarious. Don't get me started on Rock Me Amadeus!

I've never seen Popular. Does anyone know of a good transcript site? It's very difficult to google for it because typing in "popular transcript" gives results for just about everything.

Mm, I found that one already. Well, I googled for about half an hour. It looks like there are NO proper transcript sites to be found. Maybe someone should start one up.

That's the reason I want a DVD so desperately because there are no websites bar TWoP. It's just my memories! Other ace things from Popular MC Wise: Mary Cherry and Harrisons' friendship in season 2 (I think it's when she went for homecoming queen) The whole Blondes going Brunette and Vice Versa thing, esp MC turning into Streisand.

Sorry honey, USA only. But that leaves you plenty of time to purchase a multi-region player.

They aren't releasing the DVD collection in the UK? Ach! That's not fair.
Also, as much as I love and adore Mary Cherry, I must take a moment to achknowledge the brilliance of April Tuna, who stole the show for me on so many occasions.

Also, as much as I love and adore Mary Cherry, I must take a moment to achknowledge the brilliance of April Tuna, who stole the show for me on so many occasions. April Tuna was genius! I can't actually remember her saying anything, just her pulling faces with her incredible mug. There was an actually a girl in my sixth form year who was the SPIT of her, I mean literally identical. But she was quite cool, and also a lesbian, and thus not like her in person at all. Ah well. The best characters, though, were Cherry Cherry, and Mary Cherry's twin. I still think about her and crack up, often in public, being a loser and all. But seriously, go to this website: www.vidiot.com/Popular/promo2.htmlAnd click on the very top mpeg file thing- they're promos for all the Popular episodes, and that one's for the very last. At the very end, Mary's twin says "There's only room fah one dorta now, so...you gots tah step off, mmmmmKAY!?", and I swear to fuck it's the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life. You HAVE to watch it. The girl who played Brooke was so fit. The girl who played Sam was until she smiled- chick had the biggest gums I've ever seen. Sam was also the worst character on television, dampening my Popular appreciation somewhat.

I know Carly thing who played Sam was in lots of Canadian indie flicks. Hmm.

I saw an episode of the Sharon Osbourne show with Leslie on it and she was talking about some drama she was in about FBI students or something like that. I read something about Carly Pope being some new sci fi/horror tv show thingy as well. As for April Tuna I remember one thing she said very well, when they made her over and she said "I feel pretty. Pretty horny!" and of course her doing Baby Got Back. *giggle*. They have another qoute from her on tvtome.com's page for Popular where she tries to get Lily and Josh to do a threesome.

I assumed it was Carly Pope in that Hoobastank video, but apparently it's not! Which is craziness because the girl in it really, really, REALLY looks like her. I remember seeing Leslie Bibb on ER. She had brown hair and didn't look as good. I'm pretty sure she was a regular for a while, not just a 'walk-on', but I don't watch it so don't take my word for it. She was in "The Skulls", too, with the guy from Dawson's Creek who wasn't Dawson. You know the one.

She had brown hair and didn't look as good. . That's her natural colour I think. Oh anyone who hasn't read the interviews with Leslie Grossman and Tammy Lynn Michaels on televisionwithoutpity.com should do so as they are great. Particularly Grossman talking about the young what she was retareded angelina jolie.
