Dear Lowculture
I don't normally spill my guts here but today is one of those days...
I am supposed to be preparing lessons and studying today, but things keep getting in the way. My car exhaust gave up on Friday so I can't drive to work and it's hard to get there by other means. I am supposed to be taking it to the garage tomorrow.
My boiler packed up on Tuesday. Two repairmen came out and temporarily 'fixed' the problem, only, err, they actually made it worse without knowing it because there was a leak in the system. A third one came out and found what he thought was the leak and ordered a part that will arrive tomorrow. Today a pipe burst and my kitchen is flooded, so the fourth guy came out, said they'll mend it tomorrow. And he also said the part the other guy ordered for my boiler was for a different kind of boiler to the one I have.
They are coming out tomorrow, when I am supposed to have my car at the garage.
I rang the housing association to get someone to help with the mess. They said it would take up to three days.
I have had no heating or hot water for a week, no car for a few days, am struggling to get on with work, I have no clean towels, and all in all am rather stressed and could really do with some cheering up.
If you can send me any funny links, anecdotes and what have you, I would very much appreciate it.
Rxx

Bugger. Or a dead parent come to think of it. I'll never get on The X Factor, will I?
Edit: The post I posted in response to just vanished. Now I am cursing the boards as well!

I'm really sorry about everything, i can help with the boiler stuff if you need any advice - thats what my dad does and he's really good. When i feel stressed: I watch Kathy Griffin on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4KzQlklcTw) Laugh at stories on Law of the Playground: www.playgroundlaw.com/cgi-bin/browse.pl?date=2003-11&sa=60

Sorry Rad. You're not going insane. I posted something that was in quite bad taste so thought I'd delete it.
Hope you manage to get everything sorted. It's shite when all the bad stuff comes at once. But as Yazz sang, the only way is up!

I overheard a really shit joke last night, but it made me smile and I hope it makes you smile too. What do you call a twelve-year-old chav? The father. I hope I haven't stoked some sort of argument about class war and snobbery.

Thank you all, sorry for the rant, it was one of THOSE mornings, on the back of one of THOSE weeks. Come Dine With Me in a little while, so that should continue to improve my mood.
Coxy's joke was ace.

What do you call a woman with one leg? Eileen! And you thought it was going to be Heather, didn't you? Last night I had to unblock a toilet. I took over an hour, and the smells (and sight, for that matter) was unbearable. I eventually managed it with the aid of about 12 kettles full of boiling water. I feel sick just thinking about it.

Ugh. That is worse than my situation, albeit more temporary.
Maybe we should collaborate and write a 'boo-fucking-hoo' book.

Rad, I lived in Stoke for a year so compared to that you really don't have any problems.

Am feeling a lot better, thanks. Cold, but better. I might play the Happy Working Song for them when they finally come to sort the mess out.

I suggest some uplifting, positive, cheesy 80s power ballads!
Here are a couple that are lucky enough to NOT be so overplayed that you are already sick of them:
Max Carl & Marcy Levy - Come and Follow Me:
John Farnham - You're the Voice:

Short Circuit! I love you!
You're the Voice not overplayed? You obviously listened to different cheesy MOR radio stations in the 80s and 90s to me. I do like my 80s cheesy power ballads, mind.

I mean still overplayed nowadays really... Cutting Crew, Foreigner, Journey etc are all still used on compilations, adverts, tv shows etc. You're the Voice has been forgotten about for a while in my opinion.

Argh Rad, broken boilers are no fun. Mine broke down a couple of weeks ago, thankfully I've got Homecare so it didn't end up costing a zillion pounds to sort out. To cheer you up, I bring you this -
Dramatic Hamster
And a very strange fan video from YouTube, featuring the best bits of RobRob -

Well, fingers crossed, it's fixed now and I have heating for the first time in a week! The car is at the garage, hoping it won't be a dear repair bill....
RobRob always cheers people up, I think. Unless their name is Cameron or Paul perhaps.
Thank you everyone.

I hate it when utilities break down, it just makes everything twice as hard as before. I spent three weeks without a functioning fridge which was a thrill, luckily we have a fairly cold kitchen but we had to keep the milk by the cat flap which was a pain in the arse!
