I love the way Neighbours owns about 2 CDs at a time and overplays these two tracks to death in every episode at the end of every scene (in the coffee shop/ Lou's pub as background music then it goes all loud at the end). There's always a big celebration round ours when they've bought a new CD.
I particularly like the one that sounds identical to "Oops I did it again" that goes 'I'm taking back WHAT'S MINE'. I hated the one that was a strummy heartfelt affair that went 'If I had youuuu... I wouldn't need this drink'... I assume this died through overuse during Karl's battle with the bottle??
What other ones have there been? wasn't there going to be a compilation CD out?

"Takin' Back What's Mine" is by Leah Haywood. She had a semi-career in Oz, releasing an album, and a few hit singles. She also appears as bacground music in Mel Gibson's film "What Women Want" in a scene in his daughter's bedroom, with a song called "We Think It's Love"
Gina G's old band Bass Culture used to feature a lot in the coffee shop with a track called "Love The Life"...

There was one the other day which had lyrics along the lines of being love sick and going to puke all over you. It was quite a rocky track.

Give me one good reason why... tra la la The singer for this one was on loads of their songs. I remembered an indie type one that started: "I used to know. . ."

Blimey yes, that is always on, and how bizarre it is too. They are exactly the words I have always heard. Is that too heavy mother? Cripes, odd.

Ah I thought it was 'is IT too heavy mother', not that that makes much difference. Anyway is it just me or does that song sound like the funniest bit of music ever recorded? I love the way they use that end line to fill significant silences after significant moments. Wouldn't it be great if there was a scene where that lyric actually applied literally to the action? Yes it would, and I would laugh long and hard.
