Has anyone else picked up on what The Guardian has tried to encouraged do regarding the US electians? www.guardian.co.uk/uselections2004/story/0,13918,1329858,00.html By getting their readers to send letters urging US citizens to vote Kerry they have attarcted some ripe responses. I for one have quite good teeth.

Hmmm. I wonder what language they'd be speaking if it wasn't for us?

They don't seem at all happy.

Does anyone else think the Guide to Youth column in the Guardian Weekend is a load of crap.. For the amount of space it occupies is there really any point it being there?

I've never understood the reason behind the Guide to Youth column either. "Come back charlie from busted!" and "We all secretley fancy britney's husband don't we girls!"

And Guide to Youth asked what the point of the OC was, saying they couldn't see the Seth/Ryan- well, duh! Lost respect for her straight away

She actually went so far as to call it 'utter tosh' or something similarly 'savage'. It seems she misseth the point...

What do we think of the new guardian?
I bought it because it's media monday and I'm keeping an eye on the jobs.
They call their new slightly bigger than tabloid size 'the berliner', I find it a slightly strange grotesque portrait shape, although it does allow decent page spacewhen a quarter horizontal has been sold.
I'm not sure about the mast head lower case 'theguardian'. This seems like early '90's design ideas already coming back, kd lang anybody? And the dark blue used is still very tory.
The typography is generally good, the section headers on the front page stand out too much, and the turn arrows of differing sizes and positions are ditracting.
Will they have a centre spread everyday? I wonder how long this will be intresting?
g2 is now tiny (about A4) and therfore more magazine like than ever. unfortunatly this means that many of it's pages are too copy heavy and grey.
In the media section some of the job ads are far too small to read, but they werent for the jobs I was looking for anyway.

Damn it...
The Guardian can't have a weekly "Alex Kapranos squees about foreign food" column when I've been a card carrying Independent reader for 2 and a half years!
It's just not allowed!

I've been looking forward to the smaller size (although I had hoped that 'Berliner' would be donut-shaped). It's kind of weird though. The new (what I now know is called the) mast head is really crappy looking. The old one was class in a glass. In practice, the paper is much easier to deal with though.

I do like the size.
I don't like the masthead.
I'm not sure I like their advertising campaign either.
