I'm more offended by the "Posh - Will you fucking SMILE?" sticker to be honest. I shan't be buying Heat again.

I'm actually really looking forward to my boycott - I've not had as good an issue to get my teeth into since I was a travel agent and found out Sandals didn't let same sex couples stay.
I'm imposing a six month sanction on them: which by my calculations, means I will be forty pounds richer.

Nevermind Jordan, what the fook is Our Girl Kerry Katona going to say about this? There's been a bit of a media storm this week over Heat magazine's controversial stickers I said to our Mark "Why have they got Jordan's half caste mong kid on there when they haven't got any of me high on coke?". He didn't reply because he face down on the floor with an empty bottle of vodka. I said to Max last night "If Molly was a mong kid would that mean extra cash from the mags?" He's got a mong kid himself and said calling them mong kids was wrong but I don't go along with all that PC stuff! That would be the first draft and it would be edited into: My heart goes out to Jordan this week. The way she deals with the her disabled kiddy is enough to award her Mum Of The Year, which I've won the last 19 years. I know what it's like to be left to bring up kids on your own after Bryan left me for that bitch from Neighbours and Harvey's father doesn't care at all, just like Bryan, but I'm not allowed to talk about that for legal reasons. I said to our Mark "what would we do if Our New BabyTM was disabled" and our Mark just patted me on the tummy and said "We'd love her even more Kerry".And as if by magic- www.digitalspy.co.uk/showbiz/a80895/jordan-is-voted-mum-of-the-year.html

There is a "I'm not on drugs - it's my bipolar medication" sticker, so Kerry doesn't need to feel left out.

This has given me an excuse to stop buying Heat when I pick up my Radio Times now. To be honest I hadn't even noticed the Harvey sticker but it is vile.
I only buy the magazine these days in the hope of seefilmfirst codes which I end up not going to anyways. There's rarely anything else in it. You're lucky if you get one interview per issue. This week's 'Dodgy Old Photo' of George Clooney wasn't funny. He looked like Mica and quite cutting edge.
In future, if I really feel the need to buy a sequined beret I'll just look round the shops!

Heat used to be a great read when it started, I remember being really impressed when they got a (very in depth and revealing) interview with New Radicals frontman Gregg Alexander (notoriously shy when it came to press)
The tv section was also very good. But over time I became more and more uncomfortable in buying it as it had just became utter trash.

Charlie Brooker, via the Guardian, wades into the debate. Surely the final word, as far as LC is concerned?

My addiciton to Heat magazine was so bad that after the birth of my first daughter my best friend bought me in Heat to the hospital not flowers as she rightly figured I'd not been able to pop out and get it.
But even I am quite close to going cold turkey now. I am not quite sure what buying it says about me but if Mr Brooker is to be believed its not pretty.
More to the point I am sick of front cover quotes from 'inerviews' that aren't interviews but are cobbled together 'maybe' stories from 'sources close to' etc. I'm also going cold turkey from my BB addction (god there'll only be caffine based carbonated drinks left at this rate) I can't see they'll be anything left to hold my interest.

I have had a subscription to Heat for nearly 2 years (please don't smite me!) because I was buying it every week anyway but even I'm bored of it now. The only thing is, I need something to replace it with as I like getting home of a Tuesday to find it waiting for me on the kitchen table (despite the fact it takes me about ten mins to read and inevitably annoys me) so has anyone got any suggestions for a good weekly magazine? Preferably with a decent joining-up gift as I am fairly shallow:) The only one I can think of is Grazia but I've only ever read months-old copies left in the kitchen at work so I don't know if its worth it or not.

I'm really liking OK! at the moment, just for some of the sheer audacity. The Paris photos of Sarah Harding are actually really well done. I also love Love It!, Inside Soap and Reveal. Chat is also good, particularly for the Real Life stories and Ruth the Truth. Not really a magazine, I like TMZ.com for the videos of stars being papped.

For the TV side of things (the only bit of Heat that is any cop), the Radio Times is always a safe bet, and I'm sure it's less annoying these days than a few years ago, even if TV Cream have a bit of a vendetta against it.

Pick Me Up is so offensively shit, it's amazing. They have a sense of awareness - in the Xmas edition, you had to guess from the picture which Top Tip was being suggested. One woman was combing her hair with a fork, and the tip was "if you don't have a brush, comb your hair with a fork." They have a half-naked man who incites you to do puzzles too.

That works both ways you know. Yesterday I ate my dinner with a hairbrush.
Magazines-that-aren't-Heat wise, I like Reveal and Closer. They offer a nice balance of celebrities and real life freaks. OK is probably my favourite over all, because you get Hot Stars with it. Actually I haven't bought any women-ny magazines recently. I did drunkenly buy BBC Wildlife Magazine a month or so back. That was great, it had penguins on the front and a free animal calendar! Most drunks amongst the magazines at 4 in the morning are buying porn. They're missing out.

I'm still kicking myself for missing the Love It! editor's talk at my uni. Hopefully I didn't miss out on too many in-depth insights and gripping stories from the journalism front line.

I'm really liking OK! at the moment I switched to OK! just for the fact that its still celebrity based and I dont really care about real life stories. Also, its 3 magazines for the price of 1 dont ya know. Kerry's column is hilarious - she was going on about Brian and Delta's engagement the other week and finished with "not that I care like", and this week she's saying that getting a tattoo done while she's pregnant isn't dangerous because she didn't faint. I didn't realise that people who faint while getting a tattoo knew in advance they would but obviously Kerry is the expert here. The bad thing about OK is the Daily Mail page, but I never bother reading that anyway.

I saw the cover of Heat yesterday and was confused why they had Kim Cattrall on the cover in a bikini. I don't know if it was because she looks great, regardless of her age, or because she looks dreadful, and 50 year old women shouldn't be allowed to wear bikinis on public beaches.
I'll have another look later.
