I'm on holiday in a month which involves 2 17 hour journeys to get there and back. What 2 or 3 games should I get to keep me entertained? I want GBA games that make the most of the system and have great 1 player gameplay... Any recommendations would be fab :-D

Advance Wars over FF Tactics, easily. FF Tactics eats time and is extremely compulsive, but isn't actually that good a game. I can say that pretty definitively, having put 100 hours into it on public transport all over the place. I know that doesn't make sense, but trust me. Advance Wars. Not Advance Wars 2.
Also, Wario Ware is a must, and, uh, I dunno. Tetris. Pokemon. Scrabble. Chessmaster Whatever. Some kind of Zelda. Metroid Fusion.

The Advance Wars games, WarioWare Inc., Mario + Luigi: Superstar Saga, the Metroid games, the Sonic games and maybe Golden Sun too.

Advance Wars for sure. I agree with Ste that Advance Wars is better than Advance Wars 2 aswell.
It's like chess, but with different pieces, and different boards, and has so much replay value that I've never stopped. It is very addictive.
Wario Ware Inc. is dead easy to pick up, but difficult to master... and it just keeps going and going. I've missed my bus stop playing this. I like the collie dog that you have to shake paws with... this made me laugh out loud the first time.

Cool, thank-you everyone. Is Advance Wars 1 definitely better than 2 or do you think it is because you played the first, er, first and the second didn't offer as much to a veteran and didn't seem as good but a newby it would be cool? Phew, I think that sentence makes sense!

Advance Wars 1 is better. They try too hard in Advance Wars 2 to add to 1 and it overcomplicates what is a very simple, addictive concept.

What about Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town and the new Mario & Luigi game, are either of these worth owning does anyone know?

What about Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town and the new Mario & Luigi game, are either of these worth owning does anyone know? Harvest Moon is just generally good, but I've not played the GBA version (though I have it somewhere, I think, and I really ought to). The Mario & Luigi thing is good, yes, effectively Paper Mario 2, although it got a bit boring towards the end, for me, and it's unlikely you'll want to play it through twice. And yeah, Advance Wars is a better game than its sequel. AW2's still great, but it has stupid aspects. AW is perfect in every respect, I think.

I think AW has a better learning curve too
AW2 just dumps you right in at the deep end
