A lot more hotly contended title than you might think
Someone mentioned 'Bubble Bobble' in the favourite games thread, the 'Puzzle Bobble' music is equally cute and good.
The obvious ones are the Zelda theme (all of the music from Link's Awakening on the GB is gorgeous), the Ryu level from Street Fighter 2, Super Mario Land on the GB and, of course, Tetris- which, by singing a little bit of it at someone, you can really piss people off. Be warned, this sometimes leads to assault, but it's fun anyway.
So, what is your favourite music from out of a game?

Out Run - Magical Sound Shower. And the MGS title music is amazing too. Also, New Zealand Story.

Well it's not really part of the game itself but I fucking love the F-Zero GX rock songs, specifically Captain Falcon, the Arrow people and of course Jack Levin. I listen to those on my walkman quite frequently. And yes I know how terrifyingly stupid they are, I just can't help myself. "Forever he will be my hero!"
There was a lot of C64 music that was great, the analogueness of the SID chip really worked wonders. In particular I liked the Myth loading music, and nearly everything on Creatures II. I think maybe my favourite bit of game music of all time is on the C64 version of Bubble Bobble on the title screen, not sure if it's on the arcade cos I could never get the sound to work on MAME.
Donkey Kong Country had some great tracks too, especially the spooky ambient cave music.

This is why Nagoshi is the best person in the world. All of that shit is almost irrelevent, but so, so, so brilliant. I am not familiar with all their names and whathaveyou, but I love the ex-boyband chap's music and the riot grrl one.

Sonic The Hedgehog!
Especially the first one, the first Mega Drive one I mean.
Scrap Brain Zone is one of my favourite pieces of music ever, I love these songs like they're classical music.
Ohh! And the music from the "Chicago" level in Perfect Dark, it's so moody.

Have you ever noticed how many pop songs rip bits off from old Sonic in-game music? I liked the music in the Labyrinth Zone, personally. *resists urge to buy Sonic Collection for GC*

Sonic was musically brilliant. I prefferred Sonic 2 though. That random casino zone was good, and the one set in a factory before you fought Robotnik at the end. Where everything was green and orange.

there's a band called The Advantage who do covers of old Nintendo tracks. Here's the website, it's a bit...unusual. www.theadvantageband.com/
