God it's so adorable it's amazing. I have such an emotional connection with these little things. When I ran into the second underground cavern and guns-ablazing attacked the big grub thing at the end with all my might, the horror on my face as all my Pikmin were flattened by it's evil roll I cannot explain.
It also looks stunning. The Awakening Woodland with the blossoms falling gently around is beautiful.
The purple ones are "hairy... and stocky". I think I fancy them! I *heart* this game.

My copy should be arriving tomorrow I can't wait. Stupid post man didn't knock when it was delivered and took it away again. Doubly annoying as I've been off sick and reeeeeaaaaally wanted to spend the time playing this.

I loved Pikmin 1. This is going to have to be purchased. In Pimin 1 I did something that you would see in a film. I had all these Yellow pikmin and was throwing them up at the giant boss. It was emotional. And courageous. Needless to say most of them died. But they live on. It's also really sad when thay all day and one little seed sprouts. Bless.

I had such a laugh on the 2 player battle version of this last night. To run in on your oppenent with a big mob of Pikmin and start a big mods versus rockers style fight was so funny. Plus you can attack Captain Olimar. He was running around with about 8 Pikmin banging their heads against his visor. And you can send big insects to attack your opponent. Has that real nasty edge and a bit of madness to it that makes 2-player gaming so much fun. Find a friend to play with!

Those big red bug things are evil! They keep munching their way through my beloved pikimin. It's all too emotional. When my entire bunch of 100 pikmin were rolled into a pulp by the first cave boss I was utterly mortified. Poor lil beggars.

Mimternet! Did you not see my warning above?! Exactly the same thing happened to me and I was beside myself. You must play the 2 player battle. It's high-larious. Especially when you win.

Mimternet! Did you not see my warning above?! Exactly the same thing happened to me and I was beside myself. You must play the 2 player battle. It's high-larious. Especially when you win. That'll teach me to read a post and then come back and reply a week later having forgotten the original posting! If only I had listened. If only I had taken note of your warning. They'd still be... gah... alive! I don't know what's more evil, the fact that the grub can kill off all 100 Pikmin in one go or the fact that Nintendo obviously added the grub on purpose purely to do this and upset everyone world-wide. I think that I am single handedly responsible for over 1,000 Pikmin deaths so far I am ashamed to say. It's worse when they have all grown little flowers and then get knocked off in their prime. I have been trying to get my housemates to play Pikmin to play the 2 player but to no avail. I don't get why they wouldn't want to play it, they're just so cute! Especially when you spray them and they turn into glowing hot pink super heroes.

I took Donkey Konga back and they wouldn't except it for an exchange because it looked a bit tatty. So i traded it in with a few other games and got Pikmin 2. Let the good times roll. I've been looking at the instruction manual and already have been wetting myself.

The same Grub rolled over all my pikmin. I had a feeling it was going to "roll over" after reading this thread but wasn't expecting it to be so extreme. Lot's of screaming from me as it happend. I had 2 men left by the end. But i managed to get it beat.

These cave things are serious aren't they? I barely made it out of one yesterday with Olimar down, and 2 purples, 2 whites and a yellow pikmin left. It meant I didn't have the Pikmin left to get the last two treasures, and had to exit. Which means I have to recoup some Pikmin and go back in. Going back to early levels to top up your Pikmin is a good idea, but it does waste a day. (I don't care about being quick though)
Some of the puzzles are way complicated too. I'm getting to that stage where the learning exponential has rocketed past me. I'm thinking "How do I get there?" quite a bit. And some of the ledges are very narrow.

I went into one of the caves in the first level and Louie went down and then Olimar. I was distraught. The fury white Grub's are so cute though. I resent killing them. I just want to cuddle up to them. I go through so many pikmin these days. Thank god for the big 10 pellets at the start of almost every level.
Oh and isn't the third level in the top left of the map a bit like one of the levels in the first game? I thought that was slightly cheap.

I have re-paid all my debt. And managed to kill 3000 Pikmin in the process. Now i'm just going about getting every last treasure possible. I love the boss "Man-On-Legs" with it's laser and missiles. It was so cool when it happend.

I've repaid my debt and have since convinced a house mate to play multiplayer - they're hooked, hoorah! and beating me... boo!
The one player game is deceptive. It starts off fairly easy, once you repay the debt it transforms into this evil impossible beast of a game! I tried to do the Shower Room cave and made it to floor 3 with 2 Pikmin left trying desperately to find a water fountain to escape! The black and red beatle thingies are the worst. They devoured my entire mini army of purple Pikmin in one go.
Hopefully they will make Pikmin 3 on the Nintendo Revolution with baby Pikmin and more options for growing Pikmin into flowers. I find the yellow blobs a bit annoying. They should invent a greenhouse to put your Pikmin in or something to allow for progressive Pikmin growth.

I'm really pleased they got rid of the bomb rocks for the yellow pikmin. It was so annoying trying to get them anywhere. I'd alwasy call them and they would drop their bombs. The fools.
I've manged to become quite good at the caves. I did the shower room quite easily. I find that less is more when it comes to defeating enemy's in the caves.
I hope Pikmin 3 is in suburbia. It would be really cool with houses and gardens. They touched on this a little bit in Pikmin 2 with the real objects and the shower room.

I have a job and a life and am, therefore, miles behind you both in completing this. Or it might be that I'm shitter than you both.
I'm still enjoying the 2-player battle... It's very strategic (as in... get the cherries!). My friend finally beat me for the first time last night, so I now have a challenge on my hands.

Christ almighty. If you thought the final boss on Pikmin was hard (which i did) the one on Pimin 2 in the cave "Dream Den" is ROCK SOLID! I've read that you need about an hour to beat him. It's so hard. I thought i was going to haev the entire game completed before I go back to work on Monday.

I completed this! I got through it in the end. I also collected 100 purple ones. Which was really boring. But wanted everything. The ending was really crap though.
I still like the Breadbugs. They are so awesome.

I got up to the final boss but got bored and moved onto Metroid Prime Echoes.
The final boss is so much harder than the rest of the game, which is a good thing as the game was actually fairly easy. But it just became a pain collecting the pikmin in order to march through the cave to get to the boss.
To get 100 purple Pikmin did you have to go to every cave with purple flowers? I'm on about 69 purple pikkers.

I'm on about 69 purple pikkers. No. The flower buds kept re-appearing. I went to the cave in the first level with the snow. It was past the first cave and over the bridge and upto the right and I think it was sub level 6 or possibly 8. Just wondering if you know that when going through caves you don't need to take all your Pikmin with you to the hole. You just have to run to it and press A and all your Pikmin will still dive in. This saved a lot of time and Pikmin i had 91 of them when I got to the boss. But I managed to drown most of them so i had 31. Another good thing with the Boss is that if you get one of his weapons off and take it back to the so it goes into the Spaceship it will stay and there and if you go back to the boss at a later date it won't be there.

I'll have to give it a go although I have seriously lost interest in the game, which is a shame as I loved it to start off with. I guess if I'm almost there I may as well finish the bitch!

That reminds me, there was something about pikmin 1 that made me get it, play it a bit, put it away, do it again about a month later and about a year after that I picked it up again, loved it and finished it. Nice to have a kind of slow-release game, not normally like that with games at all. Maybe I'm just getting old.

Nice to have a kind of slow-release game, not normally like that with games at all. Maybe I'm just getting old. I find it hard to care enough about a game these days to always finish it, let alone attempt to find every secret and beat every time trial etc. If I like a game I will always complete it, e.g. Metroid Prime 2. But I can't be bothered to go back and get 100% of everything. However, I believe this to be down to the games themselves. I completed everything for Metroid Prime 1, 2 just felt a bit like an enjoyable rehash so I felt like I'd seen everything by the end. Most things on N64 I would play to death, I even got 007 on Goldeneye! haha. I guess I just had more time to play games back then as I was in 6th form... or not actually there so to speak.
