I have just purchased a PS2 for my twins, and am wanting to treat myself and mr SLSG to a game too. Last time I played anything was way back in the mists of time on my SNES!!! I think I'd like a platform game, nothing war like or sporty, something a bit cool and fun and not too impossibly hard. Any ideas? (There's not a neighbours game is there? That'd be ace as...)

I'd go with Jak & Daxter and ICO too. Although you may wish to look to something that really pushes today's systems if you haven't really played games since the SNES. Quite exciting really as you get to experience that massive jump. I'll always recommend Final Fantasy games, as they are always enjoyable with solid fun gameplay and great visual appeal.
I loved Jak & Daxter (the original) although I played it so much it was all over too quickly. The sequels are fun too, although they branch into guns and violence! haha Definitely the best platform games on the Playstation.
If you ever do fancy dipping into something more violent look to God Of War, it's an incredible action game. As you can probably guess from the name, it's not too friendly however.

Thanks so much for the recommendations. I have been looking on ebay and it says that ICO is really rare and so on. I do like the look of it, any idea what I should be paying roughly? There's one up now for £16 and rising.
Gitaroo man is also being described as rare. gah!

Also you really must get it, as Ste is right, it is a very good game.

I don't know if Ste fully put across just how SUPER AWESOME it is, but it really, really is. It pretty much convinced me to buy a PlayStation on the spot (I haven't actually done so yet, but only because I'm po'). It's the funnest thing in the world, and it proved categorically that I'm a better singer than Ste, but a worse singer than Ann.
