I loved that show too. It's my second favourite of all soaps.
Email ITV and ask them to play it on ITV3!

Natalie Harper = best soap character EVER! We totally need more soap characters who deal with their daughter's disappearance by dressing up in her clothes, spending all their time in her room, and trying to get off with her boyfriend. Natalie Harper roolz.

i tried to watch this once but couldn't understand anything that was going on. And I mean ANYTHING. I did read the revies in heat, wasn't that woman off Birds of a Feather trying to sleep with some well-endowed teenager?

Who remembers that one week, called 'Reconstruction Day' which dealt with Jane's Reconsruction Day from three different viewpoints? Some of the best writing in soaps ever that week, I honestly believe that. Creepy Josh talking to himself (or so we thought) and sweet Della trying to solve the mystery.
It was brilliant but it DID go downhill.

Exactly. Though my favourite Natalie moment has to be when she confronted Duncans ex-girlfriend to find out what was going on between them and when the ex tried to suggest her and Duncan were more than just friends Natalie's reaction was to diagnose her with a mental illness and walk off. But despite all the wierdness I really don't think a woman on the verge of a breakdown has been written or performed so well. Whenever she appeared on screen you could practically feel the tension that this woman was hanging onto her nerves by a thread. The fine line she walked between sanity and being totally bonkers was rather amazing aswell. Get her into Eastenders NOW! She could single handedly save the soap.

It was an odd show in that way, because there were a couple of mind-bogglingly brilliant performances (Sally Dexter, Lesley Joseph, Nick Schofield, Stephanie Leonidas, Glynis Barber), right alongside some toe-curlingly awful ones (Lysette Anthony, Cathy Tyson, the girl who played Frankie). One thing that I really liked about Night & Day was that I always thought the Harpers were a convincing family. They had proper family chemistry, from the bored tolerance of Natalie and Duncan, the spite and one-upmanship of Ryan and Jane, and the constant battle of the two children to be the parents' favourite. I can't believe I'm analysing the show to this extent, but I think they were probably my favourite soap family ever.

I LOVED LOVED LOVED Night and Day with a passion. From the first episode I was hooked. I tried to convert all my friends to it but they couldn't get into it. They said it was poor and pathetic. I tried to tell them that it was anything but poor and pathetic, it was genius!
I remember when bastard ITV kept messing around with the timeslot and sometimes it would be on at 11:30pm, the next week 1:30am. At the end of every episode you could guarantee I'd be sitting on the settee/lying in bed (timeslot depending) open mouthed at the cliff hanger. And they were genuine cliff hangers aswell, not like what you get on other soaps. Oh happy days.
I did my A Level Media coursework on it, such was my obession. Got an A for it aswell. It was to do with how N&D broke the conventions of British soap operas, and argued if it should be viewed as a soap opera or whether or not it had created a new genre of entertainment. It converted my teacher into a fan for the last few weeks.
Lesley Jospeh as Aunt Rachel (it sounds strange calling her just 'Rachel' doesn't it?) was a brilliant creation of tragi-comedy. However my favourite character was Ryan Harper. Bless

Lesley Jospeh as Aunt Rachel (it sounds strange calling her just 'Rachel' doesn't it?) I always refer to her as Mad Aunt Rachel. Anything else just seems wrong.

I watched it until it moved to the later slot, but I wish I'd carried on longer cos I miss it now. It shouldn't have been on at that time of day or perhaps even on ITV at all. It would have fitted much better on Channel 4 or perhaps one of the BBCs. The usual ITV daytime viewers just didn't have the patience for it. Look what's on at that time now, the Paul O'Grady show - just a slight difference!

I loved the bit when Jane was wearing that Red Riding Hood outfit. She had all that mystery which she promptly loss in Xroads Mark III. If anyone has a screengrab/picture of Jane in the red riding outfit i'd be eternally grateful.
