Except sweets are probably banned in most playgrounds now... Anyway when I was at school I don't even remember people eating sweets in the playground. Why don't they just write that the sweets are coming back, it's only kids that each sweets.

I really really hated Opal Fruits as they tasted of nothing and they always seemed to melt and stick to the paper wrapping.
I want Monster Munch returned to their proper size.

They never went away, they just had a different name..

Half of the beauty of sweets IS the name, though. Look at Willy Wonka.
How are they allowed to bring these back? I thought they had to change to Starburst because they contained no real fruit and the presence of the word "fruits" could be considered false advertising. Do they contain fruit now, or do they just think that kids aren't so stupid anymore as to think gumdrops are healthy? That's a bit cynical.

They changed the name to match America.
The new ones do have proper fruit in, apparently.

I can't be doing with any kind of fruity chewy sweets - Opal Fruits, Skittles, yuk...
Having said that, there was a brief period at uni (about a month) where people would put a few Skittles in their pint of lager. They fizzed a bit, and the colours disappeared, leaving you with a few chewy bits at the bottom of the pint, and a slight sweet taste. Or something. I can't really remember.

I'm not a big fan of Fruit Sweets but people keep talking to me about Skittles Vodka and I really would like to try it. I want Monster Munch returned to their proper size. I feel your pain. I also almost screamed in a shop the other day when I realised Space Raiders are now 15p and have smaller packets! It completely defeats the purpose of them! They are 10p crisps! Those and Freddos (which last year also became 15p, to my disgust) were staples of my diet as a child. It's all been very traumatic, really.

It was definitely lager. In the student union bar. It lasted all of a few weeks, before everyone moved on. Maybe they moved on to vodka and I never heard about it.

Ugh, I have some terrible memories of a fresher's party involving orange skittle vodka that was about 65%. NOT FUN when you treat it as a normal drink and neck it down. Things I wish they would bring back instead of Opal Fruits: - Spangles - the fruity ones. - Jolly Ranchers (even though I swallowed one whole once) - Fizzy Jerks.

I've heard of them all. Not too keen on Spangles though. Jolly Ranchers are in Suga Mama by Beyonce.

Wait, wait, wait...
Fizzy Jerks and Munchies still very much exist. I had a Munchy (sp?) the other day and my little sister says she can still get Fizzy Jerks from school vending machines.
You had me scared there for a moment.

You can definitely still get Munchies - my eyes were drawn to a row of them in Costcutter only this evening. Mint Munchies have now been rebranded as After Eights. However, as an old curmudgeon, I will continue to refer to them as Mintola until my dying breath.

I will never accept that name change. In other minty sweet goodness, I long for Pacers to be brought back. They were basically an Opal Fruit, but with a mint flavour.

Pacers were wonderful. They brought Spangles back a few years ago. My mum had been banging on about them bringing them back for ever and then she moaned that they weren't the same.

I remember them bringing out tropical Opal Fruits for a wee while. The grapefruit one was particularly nice. Just to the back of my flat I have this place. They even make their own Chelsea Whoppers. I don't know how, but I manage to stay away on a regular basis.

You can definitely still get Munchies Munchies are expensive by comparison, mind. Last time I bought (a good 2 years since), they were 58p a packet. This was 'back in the day' a Twix cost 33p. And you only get about 12 munchies per packet too.

Aside from the lemon and lime flavours being seperate, what is so original about them compared to starburst? Starburst did me a favour making the lemon and lime dual flavour, lime on its own was gross.

I've heard of them all. Not too keen on Spangles though. Jolly Ranchers are in Suga Mama by Beyonce. Contrary to her claims, you can't get them from the 'corner store'. You can, however, buy them at Cyber Candy in Covent Garden, or at least you could last time I was there.

And Opal Fruits is a better name. For one thing, there are several of them, so Starburst doesn't work (Stabursts, maybe)
