... As in Dave Gorman, Tony Hawks, Danny Wallace et al.
I have to admit, I'm a sucker for this type of book. I just read Dave Gorman's America Unchained, which was illuminating, challenging, and really really made me want to go to America.
In the past few weeks, I've also read two books by A.J. Jacobs (he's American, but don't let that put you off): The Year of Living Biblically, where he attempts to live his life by the Bible for a year, and The Know-it-All, where he reads through the whole Encyclopaedia Britannica. Both of them were pretty enlightening as well as fun.
And I'm looking forward to Danny Wallace's new one, where he reunites people from his school days. (although: just go on Facebook, that's where everyone I went to school with seems to be)
Am I the only one who can't resist this kind of thing?

Tony Hawk's Round Ireland With a Fridge is probably one of the best books I've read. I'm actually re-reading it at the moment. I quite like these kind of books, however Dave Gorman's "Are You Dave Gorman?" really didn't do it for me, despite loving the TV series.

I was tempted to pick up Morgan Spurlock's Where In The World Is Osama Bin Laden, in which he apparently travels the Middle East in search of everyone's favourite bearded nutter (no, not Brian Blessed, the other one), but I'm having a cashflow crisis. So I'll convince a friend to buy it and borrow it off them instead!

Tony Hawk's Round Ireland With a Fridge is probably one of the best books I've read. Agreed. It's just fantastic, especially the fact that they gave the fridge a name which I think suits a fridge, and the bit with the King of....Tory? The following book, Playing the Moldovans at Tennis.....meh. Round Ireland made me want to go to Ireland. I don't want to go to Moldova.
