I had completely forgotten about this, but the lovely people over at idents.tv have done a nice little post about it, which has reminded me just how great it was. Arabella Weir! Richard E Grant! David Tennent!!! Marital Tension! Joanna Lumley doing the ads at the end! That amazing theme tune. And weirdly, just like with The Day Today, the parody seems even sharper now than it did at the time. We need something like this now - modern cookery shows are begging for a decent piss-take.

They were great little sketches and always a treat if they came on randomly in the 9.50 slot on BBC2, after a 50 minute show and before the 10 o'clock something. Simon's mother was one of those off screen characters you never wanted to see.
I asked Arabella Wier about it coming out on dvd, prior to splashing her with hot milk. (She likes a double espresso with hot milk on the side). I can't remember her answer, but remember her face.
I just looked it up on the BBC website and Chris Langham directed the episodes.
