The most consistently inconsistent show on TV is really playing to its strengths, whilst being completely baffling at times.
If I was a 14 year old gay I'd have thought the last 2 episodes were literally the best thing on tv ever. Except maybe that new Calvin Klein advert. Hot boys flexing in pants last week and sassy finger snapping this week. I llolled at the reference to BD Wong and groaned at Santana's 3 songs and her appearance at the end. At least Tina got a solo though.
And of all the British actors available with some experience of musical theatre, why did they have to cast a guy who looks 35 to play a teenager?

Just had a Glee-splurge up to the Grease episode. I think the expansion of potential plot lines to include NY, WMHS and even Washington (have we already had an episode called "Mr Schue goes to Washngton" ?) actually works. With a larger cast and more locations it means they don't need to find really crazy plot twists and character reversals all the time. It all feels a bit more organic. Even Sue returning to form took a few episodes and made a sort of sense.
It's all going to fall apart in the next episode isn't it?

My gosh the Tea Party loving Fox News watching neocons must have been spitting feathers watching the Valentine's episode.
Gay sex! Gay frottage in motor vehicles. Lesbian sex, with predatory lesbians seducing naive heterosexuals. Pre-marital heterosexual sex, prostitution and haggery. Marvellous stuff.
Kurt's red sweater was a serious crime against fashion but the song with Blaine was marvellous. Even though it was blindingly obvious I didn't see the Sondheim song coming. When it started I did a little gay clap. I did manage to recite the lyrics once, in time, as a party piece, although I stumbled on hepititis.
And I really can't tell Mercedes and Unique apart. And Tate Ryder or whatever the illiterate floppy haired jock is called really has lovely shoulders.
It's officially on a good run.

I really don't know why I watch Glee, I hate everyone in it.

I'm watching at UK pace, but I feel there's not much point in starting a separate thread for that because I doubt there are enough of us doing that. I gave up on season three after that horrendous Christmas special, but I've been quite happy with the way season four's going so far. It's still horribly inconsistent, and it's still kind of pigheaded in the way it'd much rather make a snarky meta-comment about its problems (like tonight's remark from Brittany about how she can't date Sam because there's a group of lesbians who'll kill any man she's attracted to) than actually address them, but it can still be very charming when it wants to. Heck, even the new kids are growing on me. Apart from Kitty, she sucks.

I'm watching UK pace too. I agree this season is a definite improvement on the last one. I know that is the very definition of faint praise, but still. I think that the bloated cast has actually helped keep storylines more contained rather than going off in random directions because it is a theme week or whatever. I like the new characters too - especially Marli - even if they are Lidl versions of the original characters. At least Blake seems to be more of an integrated part of the cast compared to last year's glee project winners. I've no idea why they kept Sam around, though.
I can't believe I didn't pick up on Finn being new!Schu sooner than I did. They're even dressing him in douchey sweater vests now. I now loathe him after having no strong opinion on him either way except when I didn't like the way he outed Santana and I never found his singing voice all that pleasant to listen to.
I'm loving Kate Hudson in the NYADA storylines. She's carrying that part of the show. I knew they would obviously have Kurt and Rachel attend NYADA but I didn't like how either of them magically got in despite Whoopi Goldberg's exacting fickle standards. Also, Dean Geyer has beefed up a lot since his time on Neighbours.

At least Blake seems to be more of an integrated part of the cast compared to last year's glee project winners. I've no idea why they kept Sam around, though. Yeah, for the season one winner, they sure don't seem to give him much to do, apart from yell "I'M A CHRISTIAN!" a couple of times an episode. Weirdly, I couldn't stand Alex on The Glee Project, but I quite like Wade/Unique. Also, the NYADA showcase thing was baffling, they couldn't even keep their own mythology straight in the same episode. One minute they were telling us that first years hardly ever get invited to perform, so it was a HUGE deal that Rachel got an invite, and then suddenly half an hour later, Kurt's being invited to perform at the showcase even though he's not actually a student there. I mean, I know continuity has never been Glee's strong point but it's THE SAME EPISODE.

It's weird/good that Schuester has just disappeared (for the most part) this series and no-one gives a shit. Bet that hurts Matthew Morrison's ego. I hope so, he comes across as a dick in interviews.

I finally got around to putting the songs from this season on my iPod. Being Alive and Being Good Isn't Good Enough are both sublime, and Let's Have A Kiki is wonderful. I'm so out of touch with modern music, was it a big hit? Really enjoyed episode 15. They're really pushing the gay card and I still get excited to see a teenage gay relationship treated as if it's the most normal thing in the world. The group numbers are great, despite one of them being a song by Fucking Lulu although it's introduced as something different. And one of the best 80s ballads ever is featured, although I thought it was Foreigner at first. And getting the 3 hottest boys to dance in white briefs makes me wish I was more into the muscle twink genre. I agree with Steven, Alex on The Glee Project was rather unlikeable, but as Mercedes II he is very entertaining. Having looked at the episode guide it seems that next week's features what is likely to be the first Glee cover of a much loved icon who used to feature on Rory/Junky's avatar, with the caption "I drink so I can hear the colours".

This weeks US episode has my favourite Glee moment ever in it. It has an aeroplane and everything.

This weeks US episode has my favourite Glee moment ever in it. It has an aeroplane and everything. When I read this earlier I literally thought to myself "OMFG they're going to do a literal interpretation of Donna Summer's This Time I Know It's For Real have literally have a plane writing someone's name across the sky!!" but sadly it wasn't. It did make me laugh though. I hope there's not a random break after this episode and its cliffhangers. Who is the mystery "woman" and more pressingly on earth did Santana and Finn afford to rent a hotel room and pay for the flight to NYC?

Santana has all the money her mother gave her last season, while Finn is presumably running up several million dollars in credit card debt.

A Sue & Schu free week, and we finally get Glee does the Spice Girls instead, although I wish they'd been more true to the song, and acknowledged that a certain girl didn't sing a word on it.

The "Eric" scene with Blaine this week is possibly my favourite moment ever on Glee. The look he gives the person in front of him deserves a Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe all on its own.
And when they do proper show tunes, like tonight's 4 hander, it gives the show an extra 110% of brilliance.
