Two episodes in. Four to go. And I actually really like the new team. Will be very sorry to see them go. Phil Daniels is stunning and who doesn't love a racist 18th Century child-ghost? Also pretty scary tonight.

I finally feel vindicated that Coronation Street's Spider is someone to be terrified of. I'm just glad he wasn't in a tree too.

I found the timing of the "this is the final series" announcement quite odd, in that it was made two episodes into the current series. Why not announce it before the first episode aired, and build some more hype?
A friend of mine who works for BBC Three suggested it may have been prompted by the opening episode's viewing figures, but I've got no idea what they were. Also, it's on an hour later than it used to be, so surely that must have swayed things.
Also (without dropping any spoilers) the finale they're working towards does sound like it would round things off quite nicely, which suggests they knew before it aired that this was going to be it.
I dunno, I really like Hal and Tom, but think Alex feels a little shoehorned it because they needed a ghost, but I'm enjoying this series, regardless. Also, as already mentioned, Phil Davies has been brilliant.
Seems to have carved a nice niche for himself as someone who mysteriously induces people to commit suicide, based on this and his role in Sherlock.

The opening episode's viewing figures were down on last year, but they've gone down every year since series two, if memory serves. I don't think that had much to do with the cancellation. For what it's worth, I did a load of interviews with the cast and producer for work and there was definitely an unspoken air that this was the final series even when they were still making it, so I don't think it's been a rash decision on BBC3's part - I don't particularly understand the timing of the announcement, but I think this would always have been the final series, whenever they chose to announce it.

Far too few shows actually get a crack at a 'final' series - they're usually axed with storylines just left hanging, so I'm glad Being Human seems to have been working towards this being the end.
It's actually the only reason I'm watching it - I wasn't going to bother with this series given what a complete chore Series 4 was, but when I heard it was the final series I decided I'd get on board. Somehow it's easier to watch knowing there's an end coming.
Although, if Fucking Lost has taught us anything, it's that an end doesn't always mean a payoff.

I think they've handled the cast reboot a lot better than Misfits - but it's definitely a show that's past its best creatively. It ending is a good idea - I still like it, but that's more about the actors/characters than the storylines, as the storylines felt like they ran out of steam a while ago.

I've quite like the creepy civil service dude this series, but Crumb was an awful addition to the show. The guy who plays him is a terrible over actor. Nearly put me off sticking with it until the end of the run.

Tom is so cute in his little red waistcoat (and his eyebrows make him look even more adorable)

I really liked Crumb - he was carrying so much of the comedy on his back while everyone else was full of angst. And Damien Molony continues to be astonishingly hot - shirtless press ups? THANKYOU. The Captain though - really don't care. We've had five episodes of him just skulking around and now, in one episode, SATAN is going to rise up and be defeated? There's rushed, and there's just wasting time.

I'm pleased it's ending insofar as the plots and 'baddies' are going nowhere (I agree about the Captain, and vampire woes got boring enough with Mitchell, never mind Hal) but I'm still enjoying it because of the dialogue and performances and will really miss the new 'trinity'.

I thought that worked really well. A big bad who actually explores the big theme of the show and I was deeply unsettled by the ending.

I thought it mostly worked well, although it was a little bit meandering for the last 20 minutes or so

I was confused why the ground broke up as Alex emerged from the grave, as she was supposed to be doing the walking through walls thing. Didn't think that through very well, did they? I think the devil was wasted, keeping his action till the very end. I don't think I'll be buying the DVD to see the extra scene that clears up the ending a bit more. It wasn't a bad last series, but it could have been better.
Anyone watching the US version?

Is anyone going to watch the US remake? I think it airs this week but can't remember the details...

I watch it at US pace. They've done the usual thing of starting off like the UK version but then going off on their own storylines. It doesn't have the humour our version had.
