I know Lowculture isn't particularly political (although the celebration of overlooked TV is surely a political act with a small "p" ?) anyway.... settled down to watch this simple doco on Sky Living tonight with the husband. It's a really... really...simple format, couples sit on a sofa and talk about the ups and downs of love. And having spent half an hour on episode one it didn't feature a gay or lesbian couple. A gay or lesbian couple didn't even feature in the "next time!" trail. And there were a LOT of couples. All sorts of races and creeds (although no older couples thinking about it, maybe there's a really angry post on the SAGA message board right now) and even an extended story about how one woman likes to hit her husband with the "SKY remote" you know the remote from the amazing "TV company called SKY". It's "solid and heavy because SKY is so amazing" (I may be paraphrasing through a red mist) Here's the thing. Oh I'm annoyed at being ignored (I'd imagine the SAGA people are saying the same thing) but what really gets my goat is IT'S FUCKING SKY LIVING. Before Sky bought it the pinkest network ever. I just figured you guys would understand. Grrrrrrrrr.
