Is their any domestic violence going on at the moment? Nans raping dogs, sons psychologically abusing mothers etc? Uncle Jimmy pulling Auntie Betty's hair?
It's a matter of life, death and me getting my sociology coursework done. I need to include domestic violence in soaps. I mentioned Shelly and Charlie but Mrs Teacher has wrote "ref to Eastenders" in the margin so I guess I have to mention that.

God, I wish I'd done a course in which people wrote 'ref to Eastenders' on my coursework. I did once manage to liken Virginia Woolf's narrative technique to some Neighbours scenes set in the coffee shop, though.

It's not currently going on, but I'm assuming your teacher wants you to mention Little Mo and Trevor.

Little Mo and Trevor were comedy domestic violence characters! Demonstrate the breadth of your research by doing the Jordaches instead.

Yes, the Jordaches will definitely be in the essay. Any excuse to mention how the functionalists needs to address domestic violence because it makes the kids turn into suicidal lesbians.

I must contradict your Smudgeness....Beth didn't commit suicide. She died of a heart defect just before their convictions were overturned.

Did Sonia just say fuck? I heard her say something but I wasn't really listening, and then Baby Jane Fowler said "There's no need to swear".

Nah, she said sodding. I wish they would say fuck every now and then, even if it does come with a warning at the beginning.

(Sort of) interesting fact: you won't ever get content warnings at the beginning of EastEnders, not unless there's a change in BBC editorial policy for this. The general reasoning behind this is that if the content is strong enough (e.g. language, violence) to merit a warning, it's not suitable to be broadcast before the watershed.
