According to www.ntlworld.com/partners/mrib/N38814.php"Albert Square favourite Ross Kemp (Grant Mitchell) is to rejoin EastEnders after six years in exile on ITV. Kemp will be reunited in the autumn with his screen brother Phil (Steve McFadden) - who graced the soap for the first time in 18 months last night - and TV mum Peggy (Barbara Windsor), who will return in August. "We're just tidying up the fine print on the deal, but we're good to go," an insider is quoting as saying in the Daily Mirror. "Ross created one of the most powerful television characters ever and viewers have been wanting him back since the day he left. We're delighted and very excited." Dont really know what to think of this news to be honest..

Well I'd rather he was back in Eastenders than the new Doctor Who.
It's just all shit really. Who next, Michelle Fowler?

So was that it for Phil? How is he gonna get out of prison? I mean he escaped, held people hostage, abused Ian in his own home, broke into Pauline's, battered a few policemen.
And doesn't anyone lock their back door in Albert Aquare?

[Shameful admission] I haven't watched Eastenders since Grant left. I would watch again if he returned, despite finding Ross Kemp unwatchable in anything else.[shameful admission]

Last nights episode was just a an attempt to grab ratings so that when people start saying "eastenders is on the slide" the production team will just say "na na na na na . We got 12 more viewers that week when Phil came back so go poke yourselves!".
It was so rubbish. What was the point exactly? to showcase Pat's comedy skills?

Hurrah!
I love Grant. Bring him and Frank and Peggy back, that's what I say.
They could do worse than bring Tiffany back form the dead, as well.

I find this obsession with bringing back old cast members that Eastenders seems to have at the minute an omission of the lack of talent in their production crew; they're incapable of creating new, interesting, popular characters so have to bring back the old cast.
And it invarably goes horribly wrong. Bringing back soap characters always does. Except the brilliant Harold and Madge, but that's Neighbours and is therefore wonderful.

And it invarably goes horribly wrong. Bringing back soap characters always doesl. What about Corrie, the reapperance of Peter, Tracy and the other one that was Adam's mum? No disasters there. Even Blanche is an old character reintroduced, as was Ray. His return, and death, was great soap. Leanne Battersby returned ages ago but still hasn't a storyline to shine her shoes with, so that would be their most pointless return.

I haven't watched Eastenders for 12, maybe 18 months, possibly even longer, since Leslie Grantham came back basically. This might make me tune in again though.

But Peter and Tracey were both new actors. And Peter had no storylines before his reemergence, as far as I remember and so doesn't really count. I'm also fairly certain that Blanche wasn't really a re-introduction- surely she was only mentioned in the context of Diedre going to care for her when the actress had cancer??

Perhaps my grasp of how these things work is somewhat sketchy, but I was under the impression that the producers create the characters, and the actors just, y'know, audition.

God, how desperate. If it isn't wannabe Joe Pesci fuckwits then it's fat useless baldy morons like Grant Mitchell. The whole Sharon thing will be interesting but apart from that who gives a fuck?

I am watching the omnibus. How did Phil, the square's least agile person, bar Minty, manage to evade the Police like that.
