That was the weirdest episode of 'Enders I have ever seen - what the feck was going on? I am 'aghasted'! It really was. Fot the most part it was beyond awful but there were glimmers of brilliance. Tina telling off Chelsea was bloody fab as was the bit with Claire and Chelsea that followed. It was probably the best written bit of Eastenders this year. Just a shame it was in an episode with some of the worst written bits too. Oh and Tina thinking Jack had peaked early was pretty good too.

For some reason I have an urge to play the National Lottery.

We won 5 numbers on the lottery about 10 years ago, and it was £2500 then. I used to check it each week and it was never more than that, and the last time I looked it had gone down to about £900.

Wow I'd have thought it was more than that.
So who found the ticket in the end? I bet it was that bloody Tiffany.

If it was Mad May that picked it up, that would be the only good best idea EE has had in ages.

The recent scenes with Chelsea and Patrick have been very powerful. I was thinking that last night. The whole Chelsea on drugs thing has been a bit rubbishly rushed but you can forgive it because the scenes between Chelsea and Patrick have been really quite great. Rudolf Walker has especially been a powerhouse during it all, absolutely brilliant performance.

Rudolf Walker has especially been a powerhouse during it all, absolutely brilliant performance. The scenes were also a good use of character history. The performances really helped. They probably spent quite a bit to bring back Ricky and Bianca, but no matter what their scenes, I usually still see two actors acting (and in yesterday's show, not all that well). They're smart to use some of the characters they already had who weren't being given enough storyline. I'm not sure what to make of Chelsea's father, but he's one of their better new characters from the last few years. I didn't even remember until yesterday that he played Donna's doomed fiance in Runaway Bride. Is Clare still playing hard to get with Bradley, or is she over him? Her motivations are always a puzzle.

Dance!rape was quite disturbing, but rubbish at the same time. The way her dad suddenly found out where she was and somehow knew she was in the middle of that crowd of men was typical unrealistic EastEnders.
Claire doesn't like Bradley, she was only interested in the first place because Dot said with his new job he'd be raking in the money.

Thanks. At one point she almost seemed to have real feelings for him, so I wasn't sure if she'd changed her mind.
I wonder what the viewer reaction will be to Tanya's fling with Jack. Usually female characters can't get away with as much as male characters can. I'm sure when Max gets back he'll be fuming.

Down and out Mad May isn't quite as good as 'I grew up wanting to be Stephanie Beacham' Mad May but let's see where it all goes.

I was thinking last night just how much the characters slap each other around on EE. Surely this doesn't happen as much in reality or have I led a sheltered life?

Cristian should be half-dressed more often.
I can see where Chelsea gets her need for drama. Denise sees how desperate her daughter is and instead of really helping, she makes it about herself, then traumatizes her younger daughter by daring Chelsea to do a line off the table.
I don't care about this May storyline because there's no real reason for me to believe Dawn would miss Summer. Her engagement party was a priority over Summer's first birthday. She struggles more with keeping her accent right and throwing her child at other people, even the unknown woman Jase was working for, than with the welfare of her daughter. Soap parents don't have the time to really love their kids, but it shouldn't be a surprise every time a supposedly loving parent holds their own baby. Dawn is alright, but I think she and just about everyone else in her extended family just take up space. I do like Mickey, and Jase is OK, but that's about it.
The dwarf teacher was a good actress, I wouldn't mind seeing her on more often. I also wish they could have Liam stop wearing that cap. He looks like he's auditioning for the Little Rascals.

Has there ever, ever in the history of soap been an infertile woman who DIDN'T go apeshit and start doing C sections with her car keys?

Fuck me, I was only wondering that last week!
I concluded that the each individual writer flicks through the bible and finds something. it is easier now because they can actually just google "the bible's thoughts on stealing babies" (FOR EXAMPLE) and you'll probably get a whole host of quotes relating to the matter. 10/15 years ago it would have been harder, but since Dot doesn't quote the bible all the time maybe to start off with there was just one quite religious writer (or one with a religious friend or family member) who would stick bible quotes into his/her episodes.

The New Testement I was given by the Gideons in school has a handy list of references for various situations. I no lon ger have it but it included things such as considering marriage, dispair, suicide etc etc so mabe the writers are just using that?

When was the last time a soap told a story about a rebellious teenage girl which was actually entertaining or involved a girl who could act? Every time Lucy makes one of those smirky faces I can see an anvil crashing through the floor. The best part of her scenes arrives when Cristian shows his arms.
I hope we haven't seen the last of Bradley's boss. I never knew what accent she was going to have in any given scene. Sometimes I don't know why, but I really like Bradley. He's cute, funny, dumb but not too dumb/smart but not too smart, and he's nice to Jean. He's one of those characters who could stay on a show a long time and still provide story material, because he just seems natural.
If a new viewer tuned in, would they know May is the villain and Dawn is the heroine? I would've enjoyed a story where May tried to go to court to get Summer back, and we got to see a mentally disturbed woman who genuinely does love the child pitted against a woman who is Summer's mother and is generally a sane person, but doesn't seem to care about anyone but herself.
When Ricky and Bianca came back, I thought Bianca would be a more natural fit, since she's related to half the square, but most of the time she seems to just stand around in an island of her own, or she throws a strop if a half-dozen people are in the cafe. Ricky fits in well with most of the characters. When Bianca was on the show before, she had such a strong drive, I'd like to see that again.
I've liked seeing Shirley in charge of the Vic. It's nice to see someone besides a Mitchell running the place.
