I don't think we are supposed to view May and Dawn on such basic terms as who's the good guy and who's the bad guy. It's obviously more complex, we are meant to sympathise with May to a certain extent and think Dawn is a bit of a bint for not being that good of a mother. But at the end of the day, when someone kidnaps someone else's kid, it's pretty obvious who's the villain.

I'm glad they're not trying to make May entirely evil and Dawn entirely good, but it's not as easy for me to worry about Dawn's welfare or her keeping Summer when she barely seems to care about Summer and only seems to care about other people in her life when they can do something for her. Hopefully the story can be a turning point for her character. Lucy's boyfriend in his pants for a wacky comedy moment: www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/article1277763.eceLindsey Coulson says she won't go back to Eastenders, as she feels the show has moved on: www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/a99875/no-walford-return-for-carol-jackson.htmlI don't know why they called Carol a loudmouth. I still wish she could come back even for one or two episodes, a holiday visit or something, but at least she seems very gracious.

How old is Lucy? 14, 15? And that Olly is 19 and hot. Why would he go out with a rubbish 14 year-old school girl? I know she looks about 30 but still...

Possibly more interesting than the soap itself.
According to the tabloids Sean Slater's been fighting with Maggie O'Neill because Maggie ignored Sam Janus who is also hated by Diane Parish because Sam once told Diane how to act.
This is what you get when hire 'names' and god bless em for it.

Oooh, I was actually going to ask if Maggie O Neill is in it yet? I absolutely LOVE her and was gutted when I heard she was joining Eastenders because it is EASILY the worst thing since the haulocaust. Yet, I sort of want to watch it if she is in it because I really became obsessed with her when she was in Shameless. It SO went to the dogs when they put Monica and Frank back together //grumpyface.

Maggie O'Neil should be seen relatively soon. Unfortunately, she'll be involved in a story with Phil, although Phil isn't as bad these days. Alexandra Bastedo is joining Eastenders for a story with Garry and Minty. www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/a100560/sixties-tv-star-to-join-eastenders.htmlI wonder if someone at Eastenders is concerned viewers won't pay attention to Lucy's storyline. First, Christian was in a tight shirt. The next episode, he was in a black vest. In the latest episode, he was shirtless. If they could send Lucy away for a while and write a storyline with Christian and Olly both in their pants, I'd certainly pay attention.

June Brown's on This Morning. She says Jim's going to be back for one episode in August, which is nice.

Now whilst Alexandra Bastedo may be a bit of a coup - she couldn't act for toffee in the 60's.

I don't rate the actress who plays Chelsea. Whenever she speaks, especially if it's some monologue about why cocaine makes her feel good I get flashbacks of my Saturday amateur dramatics group. It sounds like she's reading the script for the first time.
Denise is terrifying, she's gone beyond fierce, (and ferosh), she's just feral.

I think Chelsea is played excellently, when written well. When she had to face Patrick after it was revealled she had set Sean up for his beating she was heartbreaking. She did anguish and humiliation really well, better than this shit with dugs anyway.

I hope at the very least this is going to get Amanda Drew a guest appearance on Doctor Who (or Torchwood, or Sarah Jane Adventures). She was fantastic.
Chelsea isn't played by the greatest actress, but what I like about her is she's willing to let herself go in the emotional scenes. Even if she's sometimes awful in them, she's giving herself over to the character. That makes her scenes with Patrick or Denise better because they're able to ground her performances. If any of that makes any sense.

Oh my, they had a raffle and the winning ticket was number 16 which Ricky had. But Bianca had number 16 too! But really she didn't... get this... she actually had 91, she had the ticket upside down!!!! You just can't beat Eastenders for cutting edge comedy.
EDIT: Bianca said to the kids "Have either of you seen Nana Pat's ring?" and Liam laughed. Was that supposed to imply what I think it did?

Besides the wacky comedy, Bianca will also have another slanging match ahead: www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/soaps/article1298823.eceI think when Eastenders writes comedy which seems natural to the character or situation, like Shirley running the Vic, it works. Other times, they seem to just churn out scenes with LAUGH NOW scrawled on the characters' foreheads, and the result, like Christian and Bianca forcing Ian into stocks, can be slightly appalling. They tend to write Bianca less on what she actually was and more on what someone might view her as if they heard about her second hand. Perhaps my own memories of her are also very blurred, but I remember her more for the quieter moments, like when she had to abort her first baby with Ricky, then just the chavness. I cringe when they have Bianca get into these pointless arguments with people or when they put her in scenes with all the kids. I just don't believe her as a mother and I think they could have been better served only bringing in Liam and Whitney. Since they wanted to bring her back, I wish they could stop throwing things at her and instead try writing for her. I'd like to see her become friends with Tanya, who could also use someone different to spend time with besides Jack and the kids. Adam Woodyatt was so good when Ian had to send Lucy to live with Christian. Over the years he's become such a great actor, possibly the best the show has, and I'm glad they seem to know what he can do when he gets the chance.

The return of Bianca just feels so ham-fisted. I'm surprised Patsy Palmer hasn't put her foot down and demanded better writing. Adam Woodyatt really is good; I think Ian is one of the most interesting and three-dimensional characters on the square. On the one hand, he is a twat, but on the other, he is a loving dad and husband - so it's hard to completely hate him, but often hard to feel sympathy. So am I right in thinking they just brought May back to kill her five minutes later? Umm... why?

I'm confused...are they actually kidding with this?
Harry Hill could make three hour long specials out of the rescue attempts - especially the whole family being saved by Geri Halliwell's dress and Mickey lulling in and out of consciousness about six times in ten minutes.
As long as Keith dies, that's the main thing I suppose. Why is he still alive?

So am I right in thinking they just brought May back to kill her five minutes later? Umm... why? Chelsea's drug addiction, May's return, whatever they were trying to do with Steven and Stacey/Christian. I guess they think if they don't go quickly, the viewers will lose interest, which is true sometimes, but I think May's return could have been an excellent story which could have unfolded over several months, if not longer. The scenes she had on Wednesday's episode were excellent.

The fire rescue episode was a load of shit and a bit overly patriotic. Mikey was saved by jumping into the union jack and Keith recued Dawn shileding himself with the flag.
The only decent bit was Shabnam and her mum.

My favourite bit was the ambulance and police car pulling right up outside of the burning building, leaving no room for the fire engine when it eventually arrived. And Claire assisting the walking wounded to the ambulance with the help of the paramedics.
And if Sean could have nicked that crane thing to hoist him up to the Queen Vic windows a few weeks ago, why couldn't someone have though of using it?
Lou Beale would never have stood for such public apathy, having survived The Blitz. She wouldn't have just stood there gawping, she'd have arranged a bucket run quicker than you could say "her Albert".
