I just spotted this on Digital Spy. Apparently Michael feels uncomfortable around Richard as Richard is so camp...
"The two talked for a long while, with Michael trying - with decreasing success - to explain his anxieties to Richard. He told him that he preferred to retain his masculinity whilst being gay, a contrast to Richard's lifestyle. Richard summed up the situation by telling Michael: "We're just at different polar ends if you were to categorize gay men. I'm at this extreme, you're at that extreme."
Is it just me? Isn't Michael camp as a row of tents? Different polar ends? Surely Michael is just one cowboy hat away from Richard.

I've not been watching enough to really have an opinion, but I'd put Michael further towards the 'masculine' end of scale than Richard. But it's only relative.
I'm always terrible amused by gay men going on about being 'straight acting' and about how they don't wanty any camp guys. A) Methinks the lady doth protest too much. B) Dude, you like cock. You can shout about 'masculinity' all you like but you still take it up the wrong'un.

I distinctly remember Michael's friends on BBLB saying how Michael and Richard wouldn't get on, and Michael himself making less than friendly comments about Richard when he was in the other house. So it's hardly surprising he's finding difficulty in being friendly towards someone he's had negative feelings about.

Oh Get Over It, you silly queens.
(That's Michael and Richard, for clarification.)

Game, set and match to Richard during that row! It's a bit hard to take Michael serious when he talks about "retaining masculinity". Honey, Richard was wearing pearls and make-up and still looked more butch.

No arse on him though.
Did anyone else laugh out loud when Aisleyne ordered "West Indian cuisine" for her luxury meal?

I had high hopes for Michael when I first saw him, but since he shaved all his hair off I think he looks like a serial killer and sounds more like Anthony Cotton every day.
I still would though. A lot.

I caught 5 minutes of Diary Room Uncut and saw Michael get his results. The campness was very high on the Dale Scale!
As my hairdresser used to say (mainly about gay men who got married to hide the fact), 'You can cover things up, but your roots will always show through!'
A truism and hairdressing analogy all in one.

Michael just seems very frustrated and pent up. It reminded me when you try and be diplomatic to someone you adhore and all they do is pick up throwaway lines and end up making you look like a fool because you're saying you don't like this about someone when it's something else, only it's a drama you can't be bothered getting into. Richard is probably well versed in his own defence and how to market his manefestos.
I just don't get the niche he seems to think is his. He's more fatty than an actual muscle mary - he's the dregs of that 'polar end' if he wants to believe that. It's worrying that the only gay housemates I have ever vaguely related to have been Brian and Kebab-face Kemal.

I think it may have something to do with the Jade Goody-inspired meaning of "kebab".
Visualises...

Why does Michael get into such a strop when anyone asks him anything about his nights out on the pull? Is it because he is actually a Dennis Nielson style serial killer who's nights out on the pull usually end up with him sharing his bed with a corpse, eh? Eh? I suspect so. Have you seen those eyes? Brrrr.
P.S. How cool would it be if it turned out that he really was a serial killer and he'd gone on BB as part of his weird attention seeking psyche kind of thing and to flaunt his murderous ways on NATIONAL TELEVISION!!

michael is camp, and it was so cringeworthy when he was trying to make 'eccentric' happen, richard talks about sex a lot, and this makes michael uncomfortable, but only because he's deluded into thinking that everyone else is repulsed by it, he just homophobic i think, theres nothing worse than self-hating gays who criticise other gays like richard who are completely comfortable with their sexuality.
the aisleyne west indian cuisine comment was inspired, perhaps only beaten by the time that her and imogen called themselves 'prophecy' in the pub quiz task!

This reminds me of several threads on Popjustice about Will Young at various times. Some people thought he was boring and came across as totally asexual, yet people were outraged that he was ramming his sexuality down people's throats with the apple scene in All Time Love and his cover of Don't Cha.
If Michael DID have a gaydar profile (which he wouldn't as he would find the idea of internet meets repulsive) he would describe himself as straight acting, and if he contributed to internet forums he'd be the sort who'd use phrases like "he sets back gay rights by 10 years" and "he makes me ashamed to be gay". People like Michael think it's ok to be gay, as long as it's the right kind of gay.

Not calling him "she" is not going to make him masculine.
He's as camp as a large gathering of tents.
