Today was the 17000th episode, hurrah! Shula being a bit racist? I'm a few podcasts behind, but yes I do think she was bring a little bit racist. I'm not surprised.

While Tom getting dumped and Paul being exposed as a weirdo was brilliant, I think my favourite bit of this week's omnibus was Elizabeth's choice of dinner date music - a bit of classical followed by Move Closer by Phylis Nelson. You can tell she's been widowed after a long and happy marriage, she's still basing her dating technique on those Gold Blend adverts. It sounded like something that Rodney would have put on to impress Cassandra in the Yuppie years of on Only Fools and Horses.

Tom getting dumped was glorious. Especially having it juxtaposed with Pat and Tony agreeing to give up the cows and telling him he's finally got everything he wanted.

"Nostalgia in a Bottle" has got to be the worst slogan ever; I was hoping Clarrie would be the one to make everyone realise this; but no, she only makes a shit joke...

I am feeling sorry for Tom. Brenda is a cow.

I am feeling sorry for Tom. Brenda is a cow. If Brenda were a cow, Tom would be trying to sell her. Also, Maurice is the pigman that works for Tom. I think.

Oh, that rings a bell. He was the one who they tried to talk into working more hours, and said he could only do one extra afternoon or something, wasn't he?

If you listened really hard you could almost hear the plot wheels turning, but I thought the introduction of Paul's wife into the village was really well done. And Helen appearing to be fun! Who knew?

I am feeling sorry for Tom. Brenda is a cow. Agreed. I cheered her on when she dumped him, but the fact that she carried on sleeping in the same bed for a week afterwards, giving him false hope, is actually quite mean. Can't she pack up and go stay with Mike for a bit? She can babysit Bethany while he's at the WI. Also, have I got distracted during an omnibus, or has Lynda still not had the autopsy results on Wolfgang? I need closure on llama drama.

No the llama tb plot has vanished - mind you the last time Nic mentioned babies it was when she was telling Will that she didnt want anymore but I cant remember if that was before or after Lynda played peeping tom.
I'm Team Brenda so was a bit shocked to hear on Friday that they had still been sharing the same bed, odd.

Nic and Will did have a conversation a while back about her changing her mind on the baby front, but nothing had been said about it for so long that I'd rather hoped they'd forgotten about that plot. Then again, I suppose Brenda's now the woman bravely refusing to bear children in Ambridge, and they couldn't possibly play that story out with two characters, so Nic had to get pregnant to balance it out. I hope Bren sticks to her guns, anyway. Also, Clarrie's comment about how having children would strengthen Nic and Will's marriage had me grinding my teeth - I mean, it's perfectly in character for her, but that doesn't mean it's not still complete horseshit.
Also, I don't see how Brenda continuing to sleep in the same bed as Tom after dumping him is "giving him false hope" - it's her bed just as much as it is his, and she's entitled to sleep in it.

I'm sure she's doing it because she still cares about Tom and it's hard for her too, but I just think it's one of those situations where you need to be cruel to kind. I think there are a lot of people a lot less (Ambridge Word of the Week Alert) obtuse than Tom who in his place would be thinking 'I know she says it's over, but she also says she's not ready for us to sleep in separate bedrooms and she's fussing around making my tea for me, so maybe there's still a chance this is just a rough spot and we can work it out.' If she still wants to keep the master bedroom, she can move his stuff into the spare room/Bridge Farm/the pig sty/one of Lilian & Matt's vacant death traps and stay put herself.

I think if you dump someone you need to move out of the home you shared as quickly as possible. And the onus is on you to do that. Hanging around the marital bed has further lowered my opinion of Brenda.
I'm sure Llamadrama will return but I am surprised by Nick being pregnant and happy. It was such a big plot point that she didn't want any more kids. If she was a dairy cow they'd be looking to shoot her after this one.

I know Paul is going to be increasingly psycho-crazy, but didn't Lillian just seem a touch unhinged too- unless I missed something, threatening to call the whole thing off if he acts like that again (as far as I could tell from the omnibus 'like that'= a bit grumpy) came across as demanding and controlling to me.
I'll repeat the call for the old, fun Lillian back.

Normally I only listen to the Omnibus, but I listened to the Sunday edition just to make sure Neil had pulled through. Phew. If it had been Darryl's life on the line, I would have waited until the Omnibus. Darryl and Elona would be considered joyless and depressing in Walford, let alone Ambridge.

Frankly if Darrel and Elona want to follow Harry's lead and suddenly remember that they're bisexual and leave forever to hook up with their former lovers somewhere far, far away, I wouldn't object in the slightest. She's an awful nagging shrew and he's a spineless snivelling wimp.

Llamadrama UPDATE. According to a tweet from a scriptwriter they are still waiting for another batch of test results.

Yay! It it turns out they have got TB, can one of them wander on to Brookfield and cough in Pip's face?

Pip's hilarious (except in the sort of way that makes you cry rather than laugh): "CAN'T YOU ACCEPT THAT I AM AN ADULT AND TREAT ME LIKE ONE? UGH, YOU'RE SO UNFAIR! RIGHT, I'M LEAVING!"
Bit disappointed that Ruth didn't crush her completely in that tractor accident, but I suppose you can't have everything.

Ambridge is getting very dangerous isn't it? Shootings and crashes. Blimey.

Noooooo! Not Derril and Elona! I could not care less. They have never been believable as a couple. They make no sense together and splitting up makes no sense either.

I did have to laugh at how long Pip's resolve to win David and Ruth over by behaving all sweet and innocent lasted. Also, interesting to hear how she apparently treats Spencer with the same contempt she has for everyone else. I hope she gets dumped soon. And evicted. And eaten by a cow.
