OMG 4eva!
It's back on Channel 5 from 6 September.
I'm so excited I could spontaenously catch Martins' disease, or pawn my Rosario jewels, or get my tarot out, or name a baby after a staple of the kitchen, or jump out of a big cake dead!
*scream* *scream again*
Oh, I should say, it's not new Sunset Beach... they're playing what's been done again. But it was the most fucking excellent best soap opera ever (except Eldorado).

I think you're right about Eldorado. I want to start a campaign for some form of DVD Box Set or re-runs of every episode on BBC3 during the day. Who's with me?
As for Sunset Beach...Bring it on! Well done, Five.

This is the greatest thing Channel 5 have done since showing it the first time round! Any news on whether the omnibus will be shown too?
I actually need every episode on tape for future viewing, it's THAT good.
"1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5!!", Spice Girls. GO 5!

I missed Sunset Beach first time around because we couldn't receive Channel 5 at the time.
This news makes me so, so happy.

I read that there isn't going to be an omnibus, which is rotten as it means when I have to tape it when I'm at Uni I'll need to tape the adverts. I bought 2 x 5packs of 3 hour video tapes the other day for £2.98 each from Safeway to begin my attempt to tape all the episodes. And they only have the rights to the first year of episodes. Whether the rest will be bought up depends on the ratings - which I expect will be higher than anticipated.

I wouldn't bank on it - at the end of their run of Twin Peaks' first series in the beginnings of "Channel" Five (as it was then) they promised that series two would be shown "in the near future". Still waiting. Also, you might want to buy better quality videos if you're intending to watch SB a lot... nothing worse than seeing your favourite programmes disappear amongst snow...

Don't worry folks, we'll be recording it onto DVD and will gladly distribute Sunset Beach 52 DVD boxsets to all Sunset Beach fans for a small contribution towards the cost of the DVDs. Then you can watch them non-stop without fear of loss of quality to the lingering facial expressions padding out each ep.
I am quite worried that most Sunset Beach fans will record the show and not count towards the ratings. As long as we get a years worth I guess we can't complain too much. When you go to work leave all of the TV's you own turned on Channel 5.
The bonus of not having the omnibus is that it did cut out quite a few key scenes from the beginning of each ep.

I'm a little worried. I desperately want this but go off to uni in a few weeks. I don't think I can really persuade my dad to tape it every time it's on. Sad face.

ITV2 started replaying SB, but it was pulled off the air after a few months.

I'm well gutted that I'm going to uni soon and am basically going to miss it all. I never saw any of the first year either! The Saturday omnibus was the most amazingly brilliant hangover TV.

I set the alarm on my alarm clock as well as the one on my phone to make sure I didn't miss it. Yet I still woke up before 10. It's like my body just knew.
7 years later, and I still fancy Mark and in that time there's only been fixes of Bride of Chucky and a deoderant ad. Nice to see him back even if it just repeats.

Well that was utterly fantastic.
"Our cyber chats have meant more to me than I can possibly put into words"
"You want me to return the favour........................ In Bed!"
Utter genius!
Looking forward to more of the same tommorow.

I slept in and missed the first bit before the ad break. Who was Ben talking to online? Meg?
And Aunt Bette! She is fantastic. I always forgot exactly who's Aunt she was...
Mark is lovely, poor lad. Can't wait till Amy and Francesca come into it. I wish I could be bothered to tape it all, but I already did that with every single episode of Eldorado, and that already took up 26 videos, and I think Sunset Beach would take up 60 or so!
Mimternet, are you still recording them all onto DVD?

Meg's mum DOES look like Laura Bush.
I've seen that first episode so many times. It's classic when Meg falls off the pier. I can't wait for Ricardo's crazy mum, and buff brother to appear. Ooh, and Maria with her head touching.
Hmmm, wasn't Maria the sister of Ricardo and Antonio? I just remembered.

I also love the music during scenes, the poppy stuff which I, unsuccessfully, tried to track down only to find it was written specially for the show, and also the bits that sound like the theme tune.
I look forward to Ashley Hamilton being replaced by Eddie Cybrian (if the episdoes run that long), and Gabby coming into the show (pronounced by Ricardo's mum as "Gobby", which is always funny) played by SATC Charlotte.
And Ricardo's brother, Antonio The Priest! Mmm, hmm.
And Randy Spelling, who amuses me without trying to.

I slept in and missed the first bit before the ad break. Who was Ben talking to online? Meg? Yeah. AKA 'Dorothy from Kansas' and 'SB'. I can't remember how long it takes for either Ben or Meg to realise who each other is (I forget who finds out first), but it's probably months and months. My mum recognises her from Knots Landing, I still have hope she'll become as addicted as me.

Susan Ward and Nick Stabile - the worlds most beautiful untalented actors - on screen at the same time, wonderful.
I am especially loving "But Ben we have something special. The way we shared a connection was real." How many more times will we hear that line before the series ends?! :-D
Rose, Gregory and Olivia's cleaner is fantastic, I completely forgot about her. And the painting of Maria in Ben's house, it's amazing how the sets didn't change at all over the 2 years.
Wait, wait, wait, the best so far was from Olivia when they arrived at the hospital after hearing about Annie's dad being shot - "Well is there anything we can do? Donate blood, anything."

I never knew Kelly Hu was on Sunset Beach, she's so beautiful. These repeats have reminded me of how much I hate 'mysterious' Ben -GET OVER MARIA- and that horrible lifeguard (?) Meg thinks is SB who always puts on a 'serene' face and who is/was the most eminently slappable man on television.
Olivia rules.

Meg, who is Dorothy, thinks SB is the lifeguard. Ben, who is SB, thinks that girl is Dorothy. That girls fit friend knows Meg is Dorothy, and Ben is SB. How confusing. I only started watching it during the boat incident, so all this is new to me. It's great.

Nick Stabile (Mark) is lush. Shame he only lasts a year. And where are Caitlin, Cole and Gobby? They haven't appeared yet despite being on the credits (which are so cheesy) since day 1 and we are now 6 episodes in.
Time moves so slowly in Sunset Beach, we've only had 2 days so far (and what an action packed 2 days they have been)
There has been a murder already! Drama or what? It's so obvious that we're meant to believe it's Annie, what with the glorious 7 times married Aunt Bette finding her daddy's blood-stained wallet in her bag. I will not spoil it for anyone though, but it's good!
I had forgotten exactly how ugly Randy Spelling is, he makes me want to hurl, but there are a few good lookers who definitley make up for it. (I woudn't say no to Casey that's for sure)
Eddie Cibrian (Cole #2) is due in about 5 weeks. The first one (Ashley Hamilton) got fired before the show had even aired (they film 6 weeks in advance) but I'm not exactly sure why. He had a flop hit last year. Wimmin' got to the dizzy heights of #27.
Oh I need to calm myself to a frenzy...
