Hello. My name is Kate obviously. My moniker of thelovelykate was coined because I am a bit of a mum to most of my friends and do helpful things like holding their hair back when they are being sick. It is not because I am lovely to look at as I am cursed with bad teeth and massive hair. I look quite a lot like Justin from the Darkness.
I came here because of the Pro-Aisleyne campaign and now I am never going to leave (unless someone smites me - then I'll be hurt!).
My all time bestest TV programmes are:
Thundercats, Heartbreak High (proper Aussie trash), Neighbours, Quincy, LOST and Big Brother but ONLY when someone class like Aisleyne is in it.

Hello 'thelovely' kate.
I like you because you like Heartbreak High. The boys were improbably pretty, although 'real' with it.
Have you seen this new Australian soap set in, er, somewhere... a hostel? a drop in centre? something like that (I clearly haven't). I'm sure there'll be teenage runaways, they're ten-a-penny in Aussie soaps.

The Drop-In Centre in Home and Away was so ridiculous! Summer Bay is bordered by seemingly endless bush on one side and the sea on the other - where were all of these rebellious teens springing up from? The only good thing about it was that Doctor Flynn issue number 1 (back when he was hot and had long surfer hair) worked there.
Re Heartbreak High. It was amazing. The kids in it had proper 'isshoos' and although they were all about 25 they were all a realistic level of attractiveness. I loved it because they dressed as badly as proper teenagers and all of the girls had really unkempt frizzy hair. It was also great because there were very few crap characters - there were either 'goodies' that you loved or 'baddies' that may have annoyed you but were still really interesting.
I also loved the theme music. I'm not ashamed.

Hello all, I'm Rad and people on tinternet boards always seem to think I'm a boy,but I am actually a gurl. I love everything 80s (natch) including HeMan and SheRa, ver Hits (more tune for your bob), and pretty much every daffy pop song, sitcom, cartoon and... heck, everything else from the era of Gordon Honeycomb, Striper bars and spokey dokies.
I love Neighbours apart from the dubious potential of Susan and Karl getting back together (noooooo!), (un)reality TV, makeover and Apprentice-style shows (except on ITV. Well, unless it's The X Factor or Hell's Kitchen), cheesy ALW musicals, flippin thousands of pop groups, loads of books. And, sadly, I have gotten into Hollyoaks after years and years of cold turkey. Explosions!!! Dead mums!!! More rapes!!! How could I have resisted for so long?
Oh, and I love the Roxette. And the Kylie. And the We've Got a Fuizzbox and We're Gonna Use It.

Rare but right. Susan is too good for Karl. Or indeed any other man. Bar Jesus.

I support this worldview too. Although I am not sure if anyone agrees with me on it being Karl who is too good for Susan.

My sister claimed that Susan was part of 'her gang'. I was frankly shocked.

I go through stages of liking and disliking both of them, but really I am affiliated with Izzy, and I sense she wouldn't want them to get back together, so neither do I.

I've been lurking around this place for at least a year now so I thought i'd finally come out and say hello. Hello!
Erm... my name's Helen and I am a bit of a telly addict. Big favourites being Coronation Street, Doctor Who and Green Wing. I'm also a bit of a shameless geek when it comes to Buffy.
Dunno what else to say, but I will say that I for one am LOVING the Karl and Susan reunion. Some things were just meant to be...

Hello all! I've only just found this thread so thought I'd better introduce myself.
I'm Amy, I'm 23 and living in sunny Glasgow. I spend my days with my seven-week old bambino; we watch Neighbours twice a day and I tell him all about the characters until his dad comes home andtries to undo all my hard work. Apart from Neighbours, I have bit of a thing about conspriacy/political/spy type things... So that's pretty much Spooks and The State Within then. Yeah.
As mentioned, Neighbours is my one true love. My sister and used to make the weekends go by faster by acting out the Brad Willis/Lucy Robinson love affair with a blone Girls World styling head which subsitituted for a great Brad and acted slightly less wooden than Scott Michaelson. As you can probably tell from the avatar I have a bit of a thing about CamRob - well, mainly RobRob even though he's a nutter. Cameron's sweet and nice and stuff, but anyone who secretly harbours lustful thoughts for Carmella the Nun can fuck off. Give me a man who'll stick a bomb in Elle's car any day.

eeee! My oldest and longest-running crush - almost like the Days of Our Lives of crushes (unlike most of my others, which are more Sunset Beach in longevity). I have never watched Home and Away before (I'm more of a Neighbours devotee) but now I might have to start.
However, I haven't seen him in some years. Fingers crossed he's not a minger.

Hi, I'm Adam. I learnt about this website through thecustard.tv. I like talking about TV and so forth. I first encountered the site properly with the excellent review of the Father's Day episode of Doctor Who, and loved the site's campaign for Aisleyne to win Big Brother. The messageboards look good, so I thought I'd join.

Hello. My name is Karen. I am a committed lurker and a lazy poster.
To ensure my reading of LowCulture doesn’t cut into my precious television watching time, I make sure I only ever read it when I should be working.
I love Neighbours, The L-Word (even though the first season was the only good one), Doctor Who, The Sopranos and CSI (but not Miami; everyone in it needs a slap). I miss Buffy, Angel and Firefly. Highlighted in my copy of this weeks’ Radio Times are: The West Wing, Torchwood, Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, QI and This Week. I’m obsessed by the over-familiarity between Michael Portillo and Diane Abbott.
My favourite films are A Room With A View and Mannequin.
My favourite books are AS Byatt’s Possession, Evelyn Waugh’s Brideshead Revisited, Thomas Mann’s Death in Venice and Jean Paul Sartre’s The Age of Reason. I stopped reading books when I found blogs though. Now I have trouble constructing sentences.
I downloaded the Round the Twist theme tune a couple of months ago and it’s been my most played track for weeks. Despite this, I almost always win the Buzz pop quiz. I named my goldfish after the Pet Shop Boys in 1991. (Neil bullied Chris to death in ’92, while he made it through to 2001 before floating.) Current favourite artists are Scissor Sisters and a whole bunch of obscure Ukrainians. The Eurovision Song Contest is the highlight of my year.
That is all.

Having become addicted to this site during the Aisleyne days, I am now also fully committed to posting and reading when I should be working. I stay in the tropical southside of Glasgow; my real name's Lisa but my boyfriend's dad calls me mini casino because he can't pronounce Lisa - sad, but true, and I don't know why.
Thanks to everyone for keeping me entertained all day, and for making me realise that my friends are wrong - I don't need to watch less tele and get out more!

Does your boyfriend's dad pronounce it Leeza? Pauline Fowler used to do that when Mark and Lisa were shacked up together, willfully ignoring the fact that everyone else on the Square (including Phil) called her Lisa which is clearly correct.
I do like your boyfriend's dad's imagination though - clearly Lee or anything else that you could realistically shorten Lisa too just isn't exciting enough.

Leeza if he's not concentrating - Leeeesssszzza if he's trying really hard which makes him sound like the snake from The Jungle Book!! I think that was his thought, that he should at least make up something ridiculous rather than admitting defeat so easily!
I wonder what he'd do if he couldn't pronounce Kate? Hmmm, next time I see him I'll find out for research purposes!

When I was at school I went on quite a few French exchanges and none of the French people could ever pronounce Kate or Katy so my name ended up as Cat-eee.

You'd think with our quite standard names we wouldn't have these sorts of problems!
