Karen, I exhalt you for turning your back on all that is perceived to be good and following the true light, and congratulations on your televisions, you deserve to be very proud.

Karen, I think you may be one of the clever and funny people Jetsetwilly was so intimidated by when he first joined the boards. (A sentiment I can very much relate to as well Willy!) Great post anyway Karen.
I may as well introduce myself properly now I'm here. I don't recall ever doing it before and I've been a Lowculture addict for at least 3 years now. I used to thrill my workmates with a daily lunchtime session of 'guess the celebrity ages' from the birthdays that they used to publish in years gone by, when LC was a completely different shade of pink. Sigh...I miss those birthdays. (But then I don't work with those people any more, so never mind.)
My name's Guy and I am a 34 year-old qualitative market researcher working and living in London and loving to discuss all aspects of low culture and found the lowculture site the perfect thing for lunchtime amusement and all-other-time general procrastination. Since I have got into the boards a bit more, I'm really shooting myself in the foot work-wise!
I'm a Victoria Wood obsessive and have a great affection for Coronation Street (But then they follow-on really, don't they?) I am sad about the decline of Eastenders and have watched all other soaps at some point or other. When I was younger I walked down Coronation Street when they used to have the tours of the studios and I grew up in Chester, so Hollyoaks was quite an exciting prospect when it first started. However, it's all filmed up the road in Liverpool now and there's not a Chester (and barely a scouse) accent in the show, which is a bit strange. Can't help but watch the JP/Craig debacle though.
I like other slick and stylish things like Spooks and Hotel Babylon and I love to rant about ads (My marketing background you see) on the messageboards too.
See you all around the place!

aahhhh! too many witty comments to compete with but anyway- hello! after moving to glasgow (from the sarf) where I know virually no one my television is now my one true friend (or even OTP to quote the hollyoaks craig/ JP thread) - how sad am I?!... It's ever reliable and gives me such joys as Hollyoaks (of course), Coronation Street, Pulling (why can't BBC3 repeat it constantly and not 2 Pints blah blah bleurgh?) Peep Show, 24, The Apprentice - still miss mad Jo's shrieking and the epic never to be forgotten Footballer's Wives. I could go on but that would be v dull. Anyway, thank you for many years of muffled laughter in many offices - I did register years ago but was obviously so long ago that I don't exist any more so have come back again as if from the dead a la Mr Bauer himself.

Woo! 24 references ahoy! Lovely.
Oh and it's compulsory to be a lowculturer if you live in Glasgow I think. There's bleedin' loads of them here.

I spend more time listening to Radio 4 than I do watching television....
I'll just go and crawl under a rock and be quiet now.
Indeed, there are squillions of Lowculturers in Glasgow. I spent the last New Year there and got eyeballed by Mr Raspberry shortly after midnight.

Indeed, there are squillions of Lowculturers in Glasgow. Is that due to the fact there is nothing in Glasgow to do but watch television?

...I used to thrill my workmates with a daily lunchtime session of 'guess the celebrity ages' from the birthdays that they used to publish in years gone by... My guess the celebrity age this week has been Meg Johnson from Emmerdale (Brookside and Corrie). Stunned to discover she's 80 this year. Her dob is listed on imdb and wikipedia but I still feel it must be a mistake.

I'm from Glasgow. My options are TV and heroin. Sometimes I watch Hollyoaks and almost wish I wasn't afraid of needles.

I am living in the Gulf - Iran isn't far away, Iraq is even closer.
I have a TV in my apartment. It has 684 channels (I shit ye not). 682 channels are utter shite. 1 is BBC World and is on a loop. I have watched Top Gear 17 times in 2 and a half weeks. 1 is Dubai One. It shows Friends (AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGH) and other US dross cos THAT'S WHAT ARABS LIKE. 17 have naked and semi-naked girls writhing around on beds and other random pieces of furniture, invariably speaking on the phone to blokes telling them where to put their hands. (Don't get excited boys, Marge Simpson is more of a turn-on). The other 665 are a mixture of Islamic prayer channels (go mullah, go), regional soaps that make Crossroads look like Ghandi, various (shit) sports channels, and the rest are just, well, bollocks.
I guess this is retribution for when I locked my older sister out of the house when I was 6 and she was so angry with me she kicked a glass pane out of the front door and got a total bollocking from my parents. Or something.
They guy opposite me at work sits there snorting grollies up his nose all day long. I am listening to Capital radio through headphones in my laptop to drown it out. If the fucker keeps doing it I am definitely going to kill him.

I have posh friends for whom council television has always been Sky etc, as the posh people are out walking and visiting museums or whatever posh people do. Up here 'cooncil tele' is for those too poor to have anything other than the terristrial channels: only having terrestrial tele and having to find other things to do is not how anyone should be living! Maybe it's becuase it rains every day that we watch too much tele, although I think xenomaniac makes a very valid point.

How can you say there's nothing to do in Glasgow? You have clubs and a music scene and gang warfare (ok, so maybe that's just Paisley)... I'm from somewhere where there's actually nothing to do except laugh and drink and screw, and I do so little of the latter... And it rains all the time. It rained for like a week and Carlisle got flooded. TV is always there for me. Desperate Housewives comforted me when my house got flooded. Futurama when my at died. Hollyoaks makes me feel better that I don't have a boyfriend, cause he'd probably just rape me. Truly, it is a great thing.
Seriously, just go south of the border and you'll find people looking at Glasgow and seeing a shining beacon of activity. All of my friends from Carlisle have jobs, that's how little there is to do there. And they call themselves students.

Hello my name is Chris and Im 27, found the site after my work colleague Dr Onion sent me the link.
Right now on TV Im watching Lost (still hanging in there even though its so infuriating) Heroes (fantastic, best show ever!) and Prison Break.
Waiting patiently for Scrubs to get a new series.
Only other thing I ever watch is football, you so need a sports forum on this message board.

But welcome.

A sports forum on here would very quickly turn into pictures of a) Freddie Ljungberg in his Calvin Kleins or b) Dieux de Stade.
Can we have one, please?

Hmmmm. I'll be standing with my back to the wall with you guys then. It's obvious the guys on this site are all bummers (nothing against you guys or anything, just I doubt that we'll ever discuss the 6 Nations for the same reasons) but what I really want to know is this.
Do the chicks that post on this site munch the rug or what?
