I can understand the Michael Stipe thing a bit. I ended up going to see REM a few years back (it was a drunk "Yeah we should go and see REM! I love that man on the moon song. lets book right now" thing) and despite not expecting to enjoy it in the cold sobre light of day, it was great fun. Stipey was so lively and magnetic.

God, I fancied Stipe like FUCK when I was about 15. He still had hair then.

Hello, I am Maddie and I have been lurking for ages, so I thought I'd register and introduce myself. I love lots of rubbish telly, like Eurovision and Hollyoaks (even though I can't stand 95% of the characters - although, having read the thread on Hollyoaks it appears I am in good company) and Jeremy Kyle and Strictly Come Dancing. Less rubbish telly I enjoy includes Shameless, Heroes, Peep Show, Mock the Week, QI etc. Also - Hollyoaks and cat macros? Amazing. Whoever thought of it deserves a knighthood or something.

Hello Maddie. Whilst I admire your commitment to watching Hollyoaks despite the inevitable pain its cast inflicts I think you're being a bit kind to Mock the Week. It's watchable, but it's no QI.
Anyway, I've just read a book which heavilly implied that tv makes us do bad things. Do you have your eating disorder yet or are you waiting for it to come in the post?
Welcomez

Hello I'm monkseal, and I still have the lowculture picture of "shocked Aisleyne" from the BB7 finale on my computer, which I use as exhibit A in explaining to Americans on the Internet why she was so awesome.
Mostly I watch crap reality tv, but I will make the occasional diversion for Hollyoaks, Raven, Raven : This Island, Raven : The Secret Temple, or any drama featuring people with superpowers or Billie Piper.

Hello Monkseal. Raven is one of those shows that makes me wish I was a kid again so I could be on it. So ace.
Hello all, I’m Sarah (unsurprisingly) and live in Glasgow. So that’s another lowculter that lives there. I’m actually English, but have lived in Scotland so long that I have a weird hybrid accent all of my very own.
I’ve never been into messageboards before. I occasionally post in the TWoP forums, but their Hollyoaks thread is rubbish, so I’m glad I found this site. I came across you all when I was googling Charlie Brooker and Aisleyne after their camping trip. When I saw the Charlie “God” Brooker thread I got really excited. I don’t want to gush, embarrassingly, but I felt like I had found my people.

God the TWOP Hollyoaks thread really is the very definition of rubbish. I cannot take their Hannah hating. I doubt the explanation that she has a Manga face and wears fierce coats would have much pruchase there either...

I've just realised I don't think I've actually posted here. That's a bit sad.
I'm Chloe and I'm a 17 year old college student. I'm English. I read a whole bunch of threads around here but can more commonly be seen in the Hollyoaks thread, because it wins at life, and Doctor Who threads.

I think I posted in the TWoP Hollyoaks forum once, back when we were still waiting for JP to admit that he was gay and I'd run out of people on here to bore on about it with. Ours is definitely better, even though I am a big TWoP fan.

The TWOP recaps are ace, but my sole experience of the forums has been finding out that they all seem to hate Sam in the Supernatural forum. Those cunts.

Alright then, probably time to do this. I'm Sarah, aka GraveDigger, thus named because of the undeniable shame of being cast as the grave digger in Hamlet when I was 15. I hope to rid myself of the name Sarah at one point though. No offence to any other Sarahs, but I think it's a fat girl name, like Wendy. I still haven't forgiven my parents for not calling me something ironic and cool like Vera.
I'm a South West Londoner, always have been (probably always will be as I can't see a time I'll ever manage to make my Exodus), and have always had a bit of a chip on my shoulder at my horribly public schooly childhood-I've seen more anorexia scandals than you could shake a stick at.
I'm a little bit pretentious film obsessed and want to be a film director (another reason I hate being posh-I'll never make an effective Kitchen Sink drama), but am equally obsessed with Hollyoaks (although I'm getting surer by the day that the entire thing is just a load of in-jokes between writers), Big Brother, Ugly Betty and basically any other crap that may fly my way.
I am still waiting for the return of good British comedy. When Green Wing vamoosed it took a little piece of it with me. Optimistic about the new series of The IT Crowd, though.
Anyhoo, that's me. It appears that I also use an excessive amount of brackets. Which I suppose is important to know in some circles. Oooh, long message. Sorry.
I'll crawl back into the hole I came out of now. Bye.

Hello, you seem alright for a posh bird.
Is that your dog? If it is can I come and pet it? I only ask because I'm sexually unfulfilled, so I fixate on fluffy animals.

Nope, not my dog. Dog from Lost. Most three dimensional character in that show, I might add.
God, I really am a pretentious twat, aren't I? Feel free to smite me. I see someone already did (sob).

It has occured to me that I don't think I have posted here either.
I am a secondary schoolteacher from Edinburgh who is now the wrong side of 25 and not loving that. Having spent several years hanging around indie clubs and weighing a lot less than I do now I am now more likely to spend time at home watching telly, reading books, posting on the internet and drinking.
The threads here I've probably posted most on have been the ones for Doctor Who, Hollyoaks, Neighbours, Torchwood and Terri McIntyre.

Gravedigger, I am also a Sarah.. But I like to think of the ultimate Sarah as looking similar to Sarah Whatmore of Pop stars/idol/whatever the original was fame www.bbc.co.uk/totp/wallpaper/1024x768/sarah_whatmore1.jpgSkillex - whit school do you teach in? *In fact, I just realised how odd that is that Sarah Whatmore is what I think of as "Sarah".. it never really occurs to me that folk like Sarah Harding, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sarah Silverman, etc, all actually share their name with me.. Also, I always forget that Sarah Barnes is a Sarah - but then again, that's more because I just always think of her as Swimbint. God Lowculture really gets into yer heid eh.. But aye, odd that, I never really compute when famous people are called Sarah **Hot damn I sound like I'm obsessed with saying my own name, but I just discovered that like almost ALL of the women arrested for witchcraft in the Salem witch trials were called Sarah - what the fucking fuck? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salem_Witch_Trials#Accusations
