'fraid I can't help, but I am not going to play it because I got totally addicted to the original, I need my life back!
I wish they hadn't released so many add-ons though. It took away from the purity of the original game after the novelty had worn off.

How do you know the release date has been put back to October? I've checked the official site, and a few fansites, but I can't see any mention of it. I'm so excited about the game. It looks like everything I love about the first one made a hundred times better. As for news; I heard the first expansion pack will be out early next year. Seems very soon, but I expect I'll have worn out the first one by that point anyway.

I definitely heard that a while ago, and it said October on amazon for ages and ages, but I checked today and it now says September 17th. My bad. That's still a bloody long time to wait though.

I was excited, but you need a 2GHz processor at the minimum to play it, and mine's like 1.7. Hence I didn't buy it today.
I was going to get a new computer anyway though...

I bought it off amazon as it was £27 there.
And it's arriving some time next week. I am so excited read the reviews on the net and they're saying how good it is.
yAy.

I got this on Friday and I've hardly stopped playing it yet. It really is amazing; the graphics and the gameplay and everything. It also runs superbly on my computer, which I'm ecstatic about it.
The pre-made families kick ass, and I can't drag myself away from the Curious family in Strangetown. I have all three brothers knocked up by aliens. The very fact that men can get pregnant in this game must speak volumes about its aceness.
Anyway, back to playing...

Is it wrong to get turned on by my sims. I made two gay buff hottie sims, and they are married.
The game is for 7+, but it's a bit porney at times. For example, you can make them make-out. Today Volodya and Yulian (my gay sims) were lying in bed in their underwear and I was shocked to discover I could make them Woohoo (have sex).

No you don't. It's 800MHZ minimum. I need to get a RAM upgrade to be able to play it. Dammit, I want it so badly. The min is 800MHz only if you have a really good video/graphics card. Which I don't.

This is so ace.
I started off with Don Lothario and made him Woo Hoo with about 6 girls, including the 2 sisters, the maid, and two other girls, but not his fiancée. Then he made friends with a guy from work and brought him home and ended up seducing him and Woo Hoo-ing in the Hot Tub! Then I shaved his beared off and bleached his hair blonde, dumped his fiancée, and am currently trying to get him to Woo Hoo all the other men in the town! Quality!
It crashes every so often though, but I think that may be my graphics card. Not sure though...

God, I'm so behind, I haven't even installed The Sims onto my new PC yet - and I've only got the original version.
Can I pass this off as being cool and retro? No? Oh well, it was worth a shot.

Before they invented that funny sim language, weren't they gonna use Russian, or Ukrainian or something? Well, I didn't ask him about that specificially, but it's unlikely. The Sims is essentially a big, complex Tamagotchi. Its overarching principle is not to simulate human life, but to give you a pet and a toybox. Sims are not human; they approximate humans. That's one of the reasons the game is a success, because when you're playing it you don't spend your whole life thinking, "But I could do this" - you accept the avatars' limitations as part of their... genetic makeup, if you like. And in turn, that makes them more real, and you more involved. (This is why trying to clone reality exactly in other genres is a bad idea - games machines aren't capable of providing facsimiiles of life yet, and little things that keep reminding players they're playing a game snap them out of their involvement. It's why Jet Set Radio Future is one kazillion times more whole than, say, the Medal of Honour series - it picks a level of reality, a complete aesthetic, sticks to it throughout and achieves it faultlessly.) So, (and this is one of the things I did, briefly, touch on with Wright) the reason The Sims didn't speak English in the first game was because there was no way of getting them to do so without having them sound like robots - either through the still-primitive art of speech AI and synthesis, or through stock phrases that start to obviously repeat after a relatively short length of time. Given the game's a global thing, it seems unlikely they'd choose any language as their base. That said, it was a surprise hit, and perhaps EA had planned a slightly more parochial release at first. Or perhaps this is Chinese Whispers: it's possible the syllabic sounds are based on Russian or whatever.

I am so behind the times. I have the original Sims and some of the extension packs and I didn't even know there was going to be a Sims 2. I hang my head in shame.
So what kind of new things can you do? Is Woo-Hooing like in the original when they can Play In Bed or is something far more genius than that? I may look into buying it if it is supremely ace.

Well, when I was installing The Sims2, there was a little quiz, and one of the questions was: Before Simlish, which of these languages was NOT considered: Navajo Broken Russian Fractured Ukrainian Ah, interesting. Of course, considering something is slightly different than having a serious plan to use it. You have to consider something before you dismiss it out of hand...
