I want to be excited about Cheryl taking over from Sharon, but all I can think of is her on the show last year saying she'd voted for Leon.

I'm just hoping she turns on Louis, all 'What do you know about managing? We never even SAW you once the show was over!'

I'd be glad Sharon was gone if I didn't suspect she'd only come back mid-way through the auditions when she's ran out of money to bathe in as part of a SHOCKING TWIST.
Cheryl is a bit wrong for it though. How was she chosen over Mel B? Mel B would be well fierce! And I'd like to think Mel B would be a better 'mentor' to have than Cheryl... Then again, Dannii won last year so clearly not that much experience/talent is required from the 'mentor'. Then again, Cheryl may be useless as a 'mentor', but she can't be much worse than Sharon who's more concerned about money and getting herself enough airtime than her acts performances...
I'm not sure where all this Dannii bashing is coming from? Are people aware that by villifying Dannii they are sympathesising with Sharon and Louis...?
My main concern with Cheryl being on the show, however, is Girls Aloud. Are they going to all take a holiday then record the album after Christmas? (though to be fair I'm guessing all she needs to do is turn up, sing and leave...?)

And Andy Ambrahms needs to grow himself a clue before he starts calling Dannii dull. That's like definitely-very-very-without-doubt-black pot calling the shiny-chrome-but-a-little-bit-black-but-chrome-as-well-kettle black.

I thought Dannii was dull last year. She made good decisions in who she picked but I don't think that made her a particularly interesting judge. Her comments never moved me. At least with Sharon you were guaranteed the odd moment of insanity that turned out to be funny.
I like Cheryl but I doubt she'll have the balls to stand up to anyone, especially Simon. Girls Aloud won't last forever and she'll need a solo deal eventually. It'll be fun to watch Louis shit his pants each week though because he's no back up.

Where is La Tweedy going to take her group to choose her final 4? Simon- fabulously wealthy with all of his mansions, Danni- she can borrow Kylies, Louis- he can afford to rent, and Sharon had more money than sense, although possibly not as much as the Cowell. So where's Chezza going to go? Presumably she's not that rich, and no one knows if she's still shacked up with the footballer.

I'm sure that, in the unlikely event of Cheryl finding herself homeless and destitute come final 4 time, ITV will put her up somewhere suitably lavish.

Much as I hope Cheryl gets a decent settlement *if* the worst comes to the worst, I do like the idea of her Boot Camp being housed in a Travelodge on the M4.

She could take them up to Newcastle, it's quite nice. Where did Dannii go last year? Majorca or something I seem to remember.

I'm just hoping she turns on Louis, all 'What do you know about managing? We never even SAW you once the show was over!' Again though Louis does have quite an easy comeback if Cheryl says to him "What do you know about managing?" Although I imagine Simon doesn't want people drawing attention to the fact that only 2 out of 4 of the mentors have actual managing experience and one of them doesn't know what he's doing unless it involves a five member Irish boyband.

I think Simon was in Miami last year. Or was it Spain? It's usually one or the other. The first picture of the new judges has been released... So, can we assume Simon has given up his Far-Right Seat of Authority just so he can get closer to Cheryl? And BOO!! to the presence of Holly "Meat with Eyes" Willoughby. Mind you, at least it's not Cotton.

Holly's really perfected the Cat Deeley Vacant Grin hasn't she?
Simon not being in the far-left seat (I consider myself a judge, not a contestant, so look from their side) is WRONG.

I saw Fearne the other day presenting a low-rent American reality show (something to with finding a hot new comedian) so obviously she's hoping to go down the Cat Deeley route and find success in America.
Except Cat Deeley had a likeable personality so good luck with that.
It's a shame, because "Xtra Factor" was the one context they've found for Fearne where I didn't want to beat her to death with her own leg.

Holly's really perfected the Cat Deeley Vacant Grin hasn't she? It wasn't until I read everyone's comments underneath that I realised it wasn't actually Cat Deeley, so I'm going to go with "yes". Re: Cheryl/Dannii not having management experience, I'm not sure I ever really believed that any of the judges other than Simon managed the winner once the show was over anyway. I suspect even Simon's hands-on, day-to-day managerial work is somewhat limited. He's a busy man, after all.

But even Simon's professional background was as an A&R man, rather than a manager. Fuck knows how he got as far as he did in that field, given the rancid, lifeless, boring songs he's fished out of the gutter for each X Factor and American Idol winner.
So, in that respect, Louis Walsh is the most qualified for the role. But then, Dannii displayed far better choices in terms of staging and styling and song choices last year (which I'm forcing myself to believe, as I refuse to live in a society where Louis Walsh is the best at anything).

Minogue must be totally hacked off about Tweedy! Dannii looked frozen, but relatively fresh next to leatherfaced Sharon, but Cheryl makes Dannii look like a bag of ham!
Now that Sharon and her unprofessional ways have gone, I have decided I am going to watch the comedy section of the show. I don't mind Louis because he's (unintentionally) a funny little man, Cheryl is massive uberbitch who is clearly going to have a go at any girl who crosses the threshold (I sooo hope one of them bites back with some Cashley related comment and Cheryl leaps over the desks and Amogbokpas them) and Simon is good for a few nasty comments for at least three shows (until a cripple or someone with deadly virus turns up to sign Josh Groban). It's just a shame Dannii is so bland and un-horrible.
I hate the show usually and never watch it because the winners are all faceless, nameless blokes I can't remember and Boring Girl, but the comedy portion really quite excites me this year! Although, how much does Breasts Willoughby feature in this? Her annoying face and voice make me want to die.

Although I imagine Simon doesn't want people drawing attention to the fact that only 2 out of 4 of the mentors have actual managing experience They've long since dropped the idea that the winning judge manages their acts once the competition's over, which is why they stress that the judges are mentoring during the competition. Cheryl's going to be absolutely amazing in this, isn't she?
