Now I never buy albums at full price normally, but I couldn't resist ordering the "fan edition" from the official website, for the cover and the lyric booklet mainly. Damn them.

I've never bought a new release online but I've bought the special edition too - if it doesn't arrive on Monday I won't be best pleased. I've decided that if there are least 3 songs as good as Call The Shots, currently in my top 4 ever GA songs, then I'll be happy with it. If not I won't be best pleased some more. And can I saw how disappointed I am that Nicola seems to have come out as a hang'em flog'em Tory type. I know it's traditional for girl groups to rebel but she's annoying me now.

I'm a bit disappointed in Nicola too. if Nicola stood for the Tory party in your local election, would you vote for her?
I too have ordered the fan edition. Though I'm not quite sure why because I'd rather have Mixed Up (but hopefully that'll fall onto the internet). In fact I quite want the whole album to leak soon because I have a four hour train journey on Saturday morning, and I quite want to listen to it. Otherwise I'll have to talk to my really dull Lesbian cousin.

I'm a bit disappointed in Nicola too. if Nicola stood for the Tory party in your local election, would you vote for her? No. There are some things I just can't imagine ever doing in my life; voting Tory and having sex with a woman are two of them, even if Nicola Roberts was an option for either. I'd like to see her on Question Time, in her glasses. She can't be any worse than Boy George was.

What have I missed about Nicola?
If she's aligning herself with the Tories maybe she's simply being blackmailed?
I can just imagine the calls Scream-style.
Blackmailer: "The rug don't match the curtain, Nicola!"
Nicola: "noooooooo'wwww!"
I bet it's Shaznay.

Although she did make a very good point in the Metro last week about the importance of bum pockets on jeans. If she was standing for some kind of fashion government and proposed things like introducing public flogging for wearing ugly footwear, or banning VAT on red hair dye, then I'd seriously consider voting for her.

So, er, Tangled Up is out in Ireland today and my good ol' Uncle Louis Walsh Gerry Adams bought it at midnight and got it couriered over so I could listen to it. AND it's BRILLIANT. It reminds me most of their first album and standouts so far are Close To Love (properly amazing) , Can't Speak French, Black Jacks, Fling and Girl Overboard (though the verses don't quite live up to the chorus) . There is not enough Nicola and it could probably do with one great big proper ballad in the vein of Whole Lotta Histria but overall I would give it 9 out of 10.

I have to disagree about Fling - it's rubbish. It's a close call between that and the still-dreadful Sexy! No No No for the wooden spoon.
Overall it's a really good album though - I absolutely love Control Of The Knife, Can't Speak French and Girl Overboard. Also, Damn is proving to be a cheeky little grower. I'm happy with the album, especially since I was getting seriously bored and disillusioned with them after a run of duff singles.

Not as good as Chemistry...
That is all

If Tayna Turner was a song, she would surely sound something like the giant kiss off that is Close To Love (Man with the chemical stare: hands off/Guy with the terrible hair: back off). The Sunday Times had that to say today. Not as good as Chemistry... That is all The Sunday Times also agreed with this sentiment, as do I. Because Chemistry was such a creative peak, where creator and muse become one, I doubt they'd be able to hit those heights, and I was worried about being disappointed, but I'm not. Black Jacks is my initial favourite, even if I have no idea what they're singing about, and Close To Love, Can't Speak French and Control Of The Knife are all fantastic too. But like Nurse D, I'm missing a ballad, and I feel like I'm missing something truly unique, like Graffiti My Soul or Biology or Swinging London Town. On the plus side, it appears to be less reliant on Miss Coyle than Chemistry was.

I'm a little disappointed how it really tails off after Fling.
However, Fling and Close To Love are brilliant, especially when they channel Marjorie Dawes at the beginning
"Dust....dust....dust" - what on Earth is all that about?

In Girl Overboard what are they singing at the beginning after the "No doubt about it" bit? It's not bum boy is it, I think I'm just going deaf.

I think it's 'stumbled' or 'tumbled' from the chorus part. I'm not sure however cause my Tangled Up special edition with lyric booklet has not arrived, which I think is pretty poor considering it's supposed to be 'for the fans'. "No doubt about it - bum boy" is hilarious though probably a bit much even for a massively gay Aloud banger. Maybe it'll catch on and they'll change the lyrics for their next performance at G-A-Y.

I'm so glad you mentioned that, I thought I was going mad. I really hope they release that as a single and dress as a group of Marjories in the video.
I have to agree - the less satisfying second half of TU means Chemistry will probably be their best album. Still Control of the Knife is fucking aces as is Girl Overboard. And I'm still not bored of listening to Call The Shots three times in a row.
Nice to hear more of Kimberley also (she of the fierce hair).

Control Of The Knife is the third single, which I'm a little disappointed at, as there are four stronger songs for singles.
I somehow obtained them doing With Every Heartbeat on Live Lounge today and it's rather good.
And having just discussed it with [james], can anybody, please, shed some light on what Black Jacks is about? What is/are Black Jacks?

It's about domestic violence I think. Black Jacks must be bruises, and there's mention of tea going cold. However I do tend to see domestic violence in most songs for some reason. That or bumming.
Control Of The Knife is no longer (or never was) single 3 apparently, according to Mr PJ the last time I dipped into the popjustice forums. THANK GOODNESS. It has to be Close To Love, Girl Overboard of Black Jacks (the intro and cheerleader chants are so so good).

Oh noes! According to Heat...
"heatworld adores Girls Aloud, so every time we hear rumours suggesting that they’re about to split up we tend to ignore it and hope that it goes away. A method that’s worked well so far. But now the girls themselves have suggested that their future is uncertain (nooooooooo!!!), claiming in an interview that they are considering splitting up after their tour in May next year. Cheryl made a particularly worrying comment, “We'll see how this album [Tangled Up] goes, then sit down and have a conversation about the next stage. All we can say for definite is that we'll be together up to the end of the tour.” Meanwhile, Nadine didn’t do anything to reassure us, saying she’s not considering the future of the band beyond the current album. “If the tour doesn't sell well, we'll have to have a conversation about where we go next,” she admitted. Doesn’t sound good really, does it? "

I'm watching the Girls Aloud morning on E4. "I got abused by a Parisian*" is now my favourite Cheryl saying, pushing "Do you think you've got a touch of that OCD?" into second place.
*Just in case anyone wondered, Cheryl was referring to a resident of Paris, France and not a fan of Ronald "My friends call me Ron" Parisi of Popjustice fame.

I feel like I need to reference an amazing Cole/Tweedy quote I heard here:
'PISS OFF!!!!'
which on it's own is nothing special, but when being said to a ghost is comic genius.

The best Cheryl quote from the E4 thng was when she was talking about how cold it wason the Call The Shots shoot.
"I know we sound like we're moaning, but we're not. If you were there you would know what I was talking about. It was BITTAH."
It was only amazing because of her accent.
