The BBC has said that although bets on that person dying were suspended when the leak first happened, they are now being taken again - which would suggest that the bookies are confident it's just a rumour. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/arts/4578463.stm - Proceed with care, as it does say which character...

If they've gotten it right I will be amazed. JK knows better then that when it comes to security measures. I think its a fake leak. I bloody well hope it is, I'll be so dissapointed if it isnt.

4 weeks or so to go. And in the same style as everyone else I am re-re-re-re-re-re-re-reading the other five in order, as preparation. The first two books suck so much. I don't own them, and when I read them again I realised why. Anyway, has everyone (interested) seen the whole book jacket: www.mugglenet.com/viewer/?image_location=/june10/fullukhbpcover.jpgAny comments about it?

It's a bit Thelma and Louise. The HBP is blatantly the other hand who Harry is holding and doing magic with. Boats and Goblets will figure highly.

I ordered the "adults version" so I can read it on the bus without people seeing the cover and laughing at me like I'm some sort of Star Wars freak.

I'm sorry, but it's much more sad reading the adult's version because it looks like you're trying to hide it!!!
Most people reading HBP will be fairly older anyway. If you got into the books when they first came out, and you were about 9, you would now be 17.

My uncle did the cover for the adult version.

My uncle did the cover for the adult version. WOW! That is very cool. He must know why he has drawn an advanced potions book! Don't tell me if you know.

Its a photo not a drawing. I dont know anymore than that. He wasnt even allowed to say that he'd done it until the cover was unveiled.

Because Harry for some strange reason takes the Potions NEWT and Snape is the Half Blood Prince?

He has to take the Potions NEWT to become an Auror.

Tonight.
TONIGHT!!!
On ITV at 11.45, they're showing the thing from Edinburgh Castle, where JK Rowling will read from HBP to 70 lucky lucky small children. So if you're not out, queuing for your copy - there's where you should be.

I used to work for a bookshop so I know everyone in said bookshop, therefore I get to have a quick peep today if I have time (which I won't), else I can get it at about 11.30.
I am sooooo excited.
Said bookshop is having a party at midnight with a big treasure hunt and free food. Despite being made for 10 year olds I am going!

Less than 12 hours!
I'm getting mine delivered though so it'll be a bit longer for me. I wouldnt have stayed up all night reading it anyway. I'd rather sit outside in the sun *hopefully if its nice* to read.

I'm moving house next week and have a ridiculous amount of packing and sorting out to do. I am therefore not sure whether to buy HBP now, or wait until all that is done. I know that if I buy, I'll read for an entire day and get nothing done. If I don't, I'm bound to come across some spoiler that, well, spoils it. Aaaagh. Why this weekend?

Hi everyone, I've just finished the book. Would be nice to have some lowcultured discussion when others have as well.
In the mean time enjoy.

I can't believe she stole the ending from Spider-Man.

But! The whole book is so much better when you realise that Dumbledore was actually pleading with Snape to take his life, and save Malfoy, etc. Snape's fantastic.
Of course, Harry won't pick up on that for ages (until 2008 or something, probably) because he's thick as shit.

I can't believe she stole the ending from Spider-Man. I can't believe you ruined the end of Spider-Man for me. I was going to watch it tomorrow as well. I hope you're satisfied.

Voldemort will know that Malfoy showed weakness and didn't succeed whatever happened. He is the Dark Lord after all. On the surface it appeared that it came down to Snape saving either Dumbledore or himself. He chose to live. However this doesn't prove that Snape is good or bad just that there is still stuff we don't know and can think about for the next 2 years. I need to read it again.

Dumbledore was pleading to be killed. He wouldn't plead for his life. He's too, y'know, irritatingly cool. Snape won't have wanted to do it, but he'll have agreed to it, persuaded by Dumbledore giving him a job he really wanted, or something.
I really don't want to be on the internet discussing the ins and outs and complexities and unconfirmed speculation about Harry Potter, but the book's rubbish unless I'm right about this, which I am. He and Snape will have had this arranged for AGES.

The whole series is rubbish unless you're right about this. Who wants a really obvious bad guy to turn out to be a really obvious bad guy.
They must have had it arranged for ages, otherwise Snape would never have made the Unbreakable Vow.
